Apology letters to a new generation.
Seriously get over the whole it's not like a xyz model year or "my model is the best"..
There is a point to why something is NEW.
Ford wants to sell cars to more than the dying baby boomer demographic and in more markets. the updated 2015 is a step towards that in a big way.
I've owned a few mustangs in my life including a 65 GT and 1970 Mach 1
Now looking back to those cars.
I think, "wow they were rattling, points eating, bad handling, poor quality, rust buckets."
So Ford designs a sexy modern car that could be the best performing mustang ever and half of you are whining cause is doesn't look like a refugee from a 70's **** movie? wow...
Retro is Dead.. thank the car gods.

Hmmm, to my eye everything from the side view mirrors forward is nearly identical. In fact, I had a Fusion behind me on the way to work and- if you just put a Mustang in the grill- it could have passed for the car in the launch photos.
The back end looks good (and is different), but come on- the '15 has none of the spirit behind the original '65 Mustang (namely, being a whole new breed of car). Rather, this car is a "I want to be a Euro car too" concept. Very disappointing...

Not completely ! The 2015 has more of a fastback profile, reminiscent of the 65-68 fastback models along with the return of it's separate tri-bar tail lights also similar with 67-69 Mustangs.. Also notice how similar the quarter panel hips are compared with the 69-70 fastback..

All you guys saying it looks like a 2 door Fusion, if the mustang came first and fusion later, youd be sayin it a wanna be 4 door mustang. Now do you realize how dumb that statement sounds?
Fusion= 4 doors of awesome.
Mustang= 2 doors of awesome.
Does it matter which awesome came first or is it better to just enjoy the awesome?
I have a 1965 Fastback. I had a 1969 Mach 1, briefly. And I have a 2012 Boss 302. In my opinion as a brand specialist and a car enthusiast this car is more true to the spirit of the 60's cars than the retro 05+ cars were. I look forward to a continued evolution of the Mustang with no more side journeys.

The 05-14 S-197 is the only Mustang to have it's own RWD platform known as D2C..

Put whatever code letters you want on it, it was basically taken from the mid-sized Lincoln at the time. Current platform: I'm going off of quotes from Ford in various videos and the fact it's their only RWD car. Sounds like a unique platform to me. Global Platform sounds like 4-wheel passenger car to me. Then yes, they're all the same.
