Apology letters to a new generation.
Ford did eveythng right about he 2015 Mustang except the front head lamps. I think the wrap around lights are not Mustang but it will have to do. And WTF is that reflector/light above the fog light ? Hope Ford makes some minor changes to the front for regular production. Almost looks like Ford was undecisive on how to go with front lights & reflectors/fog lights . Still an AWESOME looking Pony ! Looking forward to see the car in real life. Gonna place my order after Frankfurt Auto Show 2015.

I am starting to look at Corvettes again. The Fustang / Musion large mouth bass front end is pitiful. The rest of the car is good, but the front end is a deal breaker. This even makes the Probe look good.
Same opinion as me. However, I will never own another mustang unless it's a special edition that blows my mind. It'll be vettes till I get tired of those.

I have a 1965 Fastback. I had a 1969 Mach 1, briefly. And I have a 2012 Boss 302. In my opinion as a brand specialist and a car enthusiast this car is more true to the spirit of the 60's cars than the retro 05+ cars were. I look forward to a continued evolution of the Mustang with no more side journeys.

How could it be more true to the spirit of the 60's cars? Makes no sense, it's more sports car than muscle car.
But we've all got our opinions.
Absolutely no interesting in owning a '15. I'm interested it what it will do.
I knew this day would come and I am very grateful that Ford gave me my retro Mustang. I'm happy.
I'll probably own one eventually... Not instead of the Boss, but with it. lol They really are nice looking! My Boss will remain the car that's fun to toss around but that '15 would become the nice luxury looking sports car DD. Yes, it is most definitely not "muscle" but we knew that was coming.
I make no apologies for my tastes. The car is nice looking and I'm sure it's performance will be amazing....but it's not Mustang looking enough for me. For me the Mustang died in 1974 and was reborn in 2005. 2015, for me, has lost it's way (visually).
It's fine, it is what it is and the new owners will no doubt love their car.
Yes it will run circles around my car but I'll be driving a MUSTANG while they will be driving a car with the name "mustang" on it.

Challengers can't handle for crap but there not supposed too. Its a freaking muscle car with big displacement and HP. Its about the look and cruise of it. Fords exterior design looks like a really hot euro sports car with a Fusion/Taurus facia and 370 z side but not even close to American raw Muscle. I'm not downing the new mustang but enthusiasts like me and all of us need to accept Ford is looking to create a new form of enthusiasts and bottom line, show me the money and old school mustang heritage is long gone.

The new 2015 mustang is not muscle. Muscle pony car is gone. Its a really nice sports car that's fast, will handle amazing and has a pony emblem on it. Just a mustang in name only. It is one nice looking euro sports car though.
The fact is the American iconic pony muscle car is gone. Ford has moved in a different direction with the mustang and it was done with the hopes of global success. We as pure mustang enthusiasts want our design to scream bad a$$ sexy muscle mustang. The 2015 couldn't be more opposite. Now don't get me wrong , Ford created a sexy sports car not a sexy muscle, mustang. There is a difference. The new 2015 5.0 was allegedly reported to out handle the 2012 Mustang Boss. There is no need for this. There is nothing wrong with the 2014 5.0's handling capabilities. If you want an amazing sports car to handle corners go buy a Corvette, Nissan 370Z, Porsch, BMW. The true spirit of the mustang is a straight line power house with a solid rear axle. No need for an IRS on a Mustang that is muscle, pony car.

.....absolutely ridiculous.
Rants like this remind me of the corvette guys complaining about not having flip up headlights anymore.

This.
And this.
I'm not completely sold on the car yet either, but Jesus Christ. Put a fricken cork in it already. I really wish the app included an ignore button.

Everyone has a right to their own opinion. If I am guilty of brand loyalty, then I'm that Ford-guy... most definitely a Mustang enthusiast! I've been called a Porsche 911 aficionado, as well, but I have never owned one(probably never will). In my opinion, this new Mustang makes perfect sense... especially in a time that is constantly changing & evolving. The Mustang has managed, good or bad, to hang around since its inception... great feat, but I don't think it would have lasted much longer if they didn't make some bold changes.
When the '11 GT and 3.7 came out, most mag articles and videos showed them spanking the competition in every way, shape, or form... by the time the '13's did a refresh(and the 1LE Camaro got its act together) the grumbles and complaints about the "antiquated" solid rear axle was the major negative in its performance. Some began to think the retro-look was a little passé. Interior was much improved, but still needed a little bit more work.
The most important thing for me was that they better had kept the 5.0 engine! ... which we all now know that they did. Is it still a Mustang? Absolutely! This is nothing like the Ford Probe all over again. I've never considered the Mustang as a muscle car... it was THE PONY CAR. Since I feel that they are changing the game, once again, like they did back in 1964, the others will soon follow.
This is just my humble opinion...

I don't understand why people are complaining? Better Engines, Bigger Brakes, Better Interior Materials, More Trunk Room, More Comfort Features etc... The mustang was never designed to be a "muscle car" It was the origional "pony car"! It doesn't look like a Fusion and it doesn't look like a 370Z. If you go rob a bank in one people would definatley say it was a mustang. Stop hating on the car. Either buy one and love it or shut up and drive your S197s or Fox4s or Fox bodies etc. I am glad the solid rear axle is gone who really goes drag racing often anyway!
I have to agree. I don't understand some of the issues being brought up. First I think none of us would want the Mustang to go the way of the Camaro and die for a period and then come back as some melted looking cousin just to say it looked like something from the past (64-70). I think that market is getting smaller by the year as those of us who are in our middle age get older.
I think Ford is looking big picture here with this initial 2015 group and setting it up for some muscle with a future Mach 1 and GT 350. So if the current GT 500 isn't muscle then the new versions of this car won't be either and if the current GT 500 is muscle then those new versions will be depending on your definition of "muscle".
I also think Ford is being smart here by having versions like the eco-boost that appeal to more buyers. My daughter has a Focus ST and I drove it in the mountains in CO and it was a blast. I can see the Mustang being the same thing but even more fun with rear wheel drive. Understand that is not for everyone but if you can only afford one car and drive to work every day then to me an eco-boost version makes complete sense. Especially with new CAFE standards.
As far as the new car I love the interior. Exterior I will wait to see in person to pass real judgment but first thoughts are like some of you. The rear is great, the front not bad but it could have been more aggressive and the sides are bland and I wish they had kept the coves so side scoops would look nice (but don't think they will). To me the grill will be able to be changed by the aftermarket so yes it isn't great but obviously there will be options like there is today.
I like to drive in the mountains and on roads like the Tail of the Dragon so having a better handling car is more important to me than break neck 1/4 mile but I understand those who prefer that instead. Looking forward to seeing the handling improvements and how the car revs on a road course.
Bottom line for me is I like reading everyone's perspective because it is interesting and people have a lot of good thoughts some of which I may not embrace

As the new S550 was not designed nor intended to pay tribute to the 1st generation 60's cars where as the retro 05+ cars where intentionally designed as a modern interpretation of the 1st generation 65-70 Mustangs thus re-capturing the spirit of those 1960's cars..
Therefore I totally disagree with you and although I do like the new car, the S550 is never the less an all new modern design moving completely away from it's past and moving forward into the 21st century for the next 50 years of Mustang.. It's as plain and simple as that..
