It stinks that the V8's price is going to be jacked up though.

Remember the guy last year who said he went to a focus group for the new mustang.
He said one of the questions asked about how much MORE would you be willing to pay for a V8, 6K, 8K.
Not 8k for this guy! 3,500k tops for this cat. That's why I'll stick with V6's. I can be more than happy with 365 HP, 420 tq v6 mustang. Heck, I'm only around 350 HP now and am more than satisfied with the power it makes.

i would be ecstatic if they bump up the v6 and get it close to 0-60 in 5 seconds. That would be the perfect car for me between between purchase price and mpg..

That would be sweet for stock with 2.73 gears. 5.0 0-60 mph

I think the bigger "danger" is losing folks that have a very narrow view of what a Mustang is. To read some people's say, you'd think the Mustang has been "retro" forever. Last I checked the post-"classic" era (1974+) Mustangs have all sold just fine, retro or not. I adored the retro look and still do, but even I am looking forward to the S550 and what it brings to the table. I am mystified by posts that almost seem to take a bizarre glee in claiming the Mustang is "ruined" and will die because it isn't retro. Why a supposed fan wouldn't give the Mustang the benefit of a doubt is beyond me. Personally, I think the S550 will have enough heritage design cues that I will like it just fine.

We've had a decade of retro

If we don't move on it will die. You can't be retro forever. You've got to have something new so it can become the retro for future generations.

Besides to me this new 2015 is not such a radical departure on the exterior (so far) from the 2014.

To me the "retro" period was a necessary reset. Now the car can correctly evolve on the future.

is correct... it something is old(retro) for to long it simply is old... Its like when you go to the store and the same item is on sale and has been on sale for the past year.. at some point it simply becomes the price and not a sale.

I don't think that is a fair comparison. I still love the Kraft mac&cheese that I had as a kid and want that to stay the same. I still love the Heinz ketchup that I ate as a kid and want it to stay the same. I still love the Karo pancake syrup that I had as a kid.

So, I think the new Mustang should be a reincarnation of the Mustang II. Big hood decals and all.

I wish people would stop linking the fool, it's become the definition of a headline-generator. Week 1: "Ford gearing up for awesomesauce new Mustang!" Week 2: "New Mustang 'Looks Amazing' says some guy!" Week 3: "Is Ford taking a risk on the new Mustang?" Week 4: "Why Ford's risky new Mustang will save the company." Week 5: "Why Ford's not risky enough Mustang won't save the company." Week 6 "Would the new Mustang be better if it were a Lincoln?" Week 7: "Should Ford close Lincoln and turn Mustang into its own brand?" Week 8: "12 reasons the new Mustang brand would be awesomesauce(Wagons!)!" Week 9: "We hear the new Camaro is even more Risky than the new Mustang, here's why that's awesomesauce!" Week 10: "Why Kia should make a Mustang competitor."

You're going to get banned by Aaron, I've still got a nasty mark from him on my record here for even making a joke about the II .

The car that evokes emotion in me as a Mustang is a 1969-1970 the era prior to me getting my drivers license in 1972. To me, the BOSSES/MACH I were the pinnacle of the Mustang. I worked hard, and saved for college. Even when I graduated these models brought premium dollars and were still out of my reach. Thankfully, FORD provided me one more chance to own the car I dreamed of in my youth. I agree it's time to move on, but I'm SO HAPPY that the final years of the retro look provided me with a BOSS. I had owned an '04 GT, my wife an '01 Bullitt GT, they were nice cars but nowhere in the league of the S197 chassis. I had to drive one to believe it, and easily coughed up my Corvette in trade. I look forward to the next generation of Mustang, I know it will be an awesome car, my only request is PLEASE keep some of those classic cues in the car, so we old time Mustang guy/girls will be enticed.

In my book, to misquote Andy Rooney from the movie "Boys' Town"; "There are no bad Mustangs".

I like them all. But I think there is goodness in stealing, conceptually, from the original Mustang; the Mustang I concept car.

Light, sporty and affordable.

The later, production Mustangs were "like" a sports car, except they had a small back seat. They had sports car cues, like rear brake cooling vents, and cool stop lights.

People forget that the Mustang was conceptually a fun commuter car that was "like" a sports car without the sports car price. No one at Ford set out to build a car that was "like a Mustang".

I thought the Fox body was utterly brilliant.

I think Ford has done a great job to date with Mustang styling.

I wrote that same word just the other day and the TMS moderator jumped my a$$. I got my one and last warning. Where is the same treatment here TMS moderators? The moderator actually accused me of talking about ones sexual preference. I was like, wtf are you talking about. Too bad some people don't have a grasp of the English language and are educated in how words are used and the common phrase. That g word has many meanings. Come on TMS moderators where is the giving a first and last warning for the g word used here like I did?

Just kidding flagstang because I know what you meant by using the g word. .
