Thank you for the update, Grifftech. I did get your PM a few weeks ago and escalated your case. I've been so sick, I didn't even notice your case was already opened.
Definitely keep me posted.
Have you brought yours into your dealer, kn7671? Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

I just want my car fixed is all, a 10 month old car shouldn't sound like this.
Should have bought the Camaro instead
(jk'ing)
With all these manual transmissions messing up on peoples Mustangs I am wishing now I would have gotten an automatic. I have 4K on my 11 and so far no problems. Just notchy going into each gear.

I hope that somehow this issue with these MT82s can get some national news coverage or some sort of investigative report done outside of the NHTSA inquiry and really shed some light on this and then maybe Ford will do something. One can dream
if people were dying because of it then i could see it getting some coverage (like the toyota acceleration thing). otherwise it just isn't really that interesting outside of the mustang community. plus, will all the other car recalls that happen almost every day, it would be an even bigger snoozefest.
Well, 14000 miles and still no problems. I am having the fluid TSB accomplished on Wednesday, because it was hard to shift last winter, and I am curious to see if this helps. I figure with this many miles on the tranny it can't hurt. I am not going to replace the Ford fluid with anything aftermarket until the NHTSA investigation is complete and my warranty is gone.
Just had a new transmission issue on my 2011 GT. 16K miles, no issues, cruising on a trip in 6th gear and suddenly transmission just went. Dealer says it was a "bearing failure that took the other bearings and a couple shafts out with it" Any news on the investigation?

Did you ask for warranty work?
Yes, it's been at the dealer for over a week now. After stalling a couple days, and then saying they didn't think it was the transmission as I'd suggested, but rather the rear end, and then saying they needed to look into that to ensure this wasn't due to warranty-voiding misuse, they finally came back and said "well it wasn't the rear end, it WAS in fact the transmission, so we'll get that over to the transmission guy to take a look at it." I mentioned the NHTSA investigation into them and of course the service manager said he hadn't heard of any problems. They did a cost analysis and are just replacing parts, but if these things are having so many issues, I wonder how long it will be before taking it in again.

Well, I am pushing 14500 now and like you, have had no problems; however, with your failure I am beginning to wonder. When you say the transmission suddenly went, did it grenade on the highway or just lose all gears resulting in a roadside tow? Was there any particular sound before it failed? Any warning at all?
Unless it is a safety issue it will never see the light of day in the media; perhaps on a facebook page the he frequents to raise visits on it.
