I had one of the good ones - MT82 Transmission Whining has begun...
Going to a higher quality oil will not provide any noticeable HP or performance improvements. It can, however, provide immediate engine smoothness. Over time, using a higher quality oil can help reduce the wear and tear your engine will typically see just from the nature of an internal combustion engine. The less wear and tear, the more HP and performance your car will maintain over the long run. It will also keep better mileage #'s.
5w30 Royal Purple for me next oil change. It stays over 100 degrees, everyday here during the summer.
I changed out to Red Line MTL for the tranny and it is silky smooth now. I want to run full synthetic on everything just for the added protection from the summer heat here.

Get your point. I tend to call minuscule amounts no gain. When you get 5hp or1 mpg more then I would call it a gain. But that's just me. Maybe the other guy is talking minuscule too
. Glad to see you spend your time researching and not just talking
.
Most ppl I talk to around here don't even know why they put gas in the gas tank. They just know it dissapears over time lol.
I take pride in my work as I'm sure you do too.

, which I'm proud of. I personally just prefer going to a better, higher quality oil because I want the most out of my engine. Thanks for all the good info guys.

I think we're all bascially on the same page, just expressing our views differently. We've done a good job at NOT doing this

when no one starts name calling and making it personal. Glad were on the same page
There was a post about this. Red Line said they NO LONGER can recommend MTL for the MT82 because Ford changed their specs recently to that dual clutch crap. Red Line stated they do not have anything in their line up that is speced to the the dual clutch junk ford is now putting in the MT82 now.
When ford was putting the XT-M5-QS fluid in the 2011's and some 2012's; Red Line stated the MTL was a popular replacement for this fluid.
Now ford is using the XT-11-QDC which is the dual clutch fluid.

I'm pretty sure it's just legal stuff, they didn't want Ford to sew them for stating that their oil met Ford specs when in fact it did not. It may not meet all Ford specs, it surpasses them. Why have so many owners of MT82 reported BETTER shifting after swapping to MTL ! Because it's inferior tranny oil !!!!! Some have made the change thousands of miles ago, and have not reported issues about the hard, notchy shifting coming back or becoming worst. It doesn't solve all MT82 tranny issues some are experiencing, but it sure helps. Well it did in my case. It's just this dual clutch fluid swap that Ford did that changed everything. Just my .02

I just went to the Amsoil Home Page and found this information for the MT-82 transmission when referring to a replacement for the Ford fluid:
Manual transmission fluid formulated to meet
spec. WSD-M2C200-C.
I then checked my owners manual and found this:
Recommended Transmission fluid for the MT-82: Motorcraft Dual Clutch Transmission Fluid. XT-11-QDC/ WSD-M2C200-C.
Since the specs for the Amsoil and XT-11-QDC are the same (WSD-M2C200-C ), does this mean the Amsoil is a dual clutch fluid similar to what Ford is using under the replacement TSB? I am curious as I was going to have Ford do the TSB for the winter, and if both fluids are the same then why buy the Amsoil?
