Agree. Its pretty bad when even the idiot light does not work. I stumbled into this on a F series forum by chance today and thought it may be helpful. I dont have the source so maybe one of the Ford dealers could confirm this. It seems Ford maybe knows they know they have a problem.

4053 - 2012MUSTANG - LOW OIL DETECTION ADDED
2012 MUSTANG EQUIPPED WITH THE 5.0L ENGINE AND MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS BUILT ON OR AFTER 11/06/11 HAVE A REVISED STRATEGY FOR THE OIL LIFE MONITOR. THE REVISED STRATEGY WILL SET A "ENGINE OIL CHANGE SOON" MESSAGE IN THE MESSAGE CENTER IF THE ENGINE OIL LEVEL IS APPROXIMATELY 2.5 QUARTS (2.3 LITERS) LOW REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE MILEAGE. IF THIS CONDITION IS ENCOUNTERED, THE ENGINE OIL AND FILTER SHOULD BE CHANGED PER NORMAL MAINTENANCE PROCEDURES AND THE OIL LIFE MONITOR SHOULD BE RESET. VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 10000 MILES (16000 KM) MAY EXPERIENCE A GREATER AMOUNT OF OIL CONSUMPTION. REFER TO THE 2012 MUSTANG WORKSHOP MANUAL SECTION 03, DIAGNOSIS AND TESTING, EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Yep....and the '11 light/gauge works as it should because it is a pressure light....not a level light.........correct?

Good question. My only experience with a severe oil burner was a 71 Camaro. When I turned a corner and the oil light came on I knew I was down a few quarts. Its just one more reason to do away with these idiot gauges Ford loves so much. I had a 72 Maverick that leaked really bad and it did the same thing.

Question

What happened to the op Yigal 6 ? He should be updating us as to what his mechanic said after he found out a trace of oil would not be the cause of this problem. After Yigal 6 became educated by the information on this post, did he confront the mechanic and find out what really did cause the problem ?
I hate to offend Yigal 6, but I feel anyone with a car that has a problem like he described is a real low life for putting his wife in the car and having her risk her life to go to the dealership.

You don't have to prove anything to anyone. There ARE a lot of ******** on these forums trying to show how smart they are, and those who don't know cars/engines believe them. I've read so much B/S on these forums I sit and laugh sometimes. The only other forum that is as bad as this is the SVT forum. And you will notice that many of the people are the same. I don't ask for any advice anymore from these people, as it turns out I know more then most people on here. I was a Ford of Patchogue A-mechanic for a few years (1967-75), and have seen a lot of weird stuff happen to brand new cars. Remember anything is possible, I have learned that from experience. If you watch closely the biggest as*hol*s will be the first to respond to this post.....

I have read your post a few times and I must say that I sincerely agree 100% with EVERY word you said!! Wow! I guess that means we think alike! And if I'm one of those A$$HOLES that you are referring to, what does that make you?? Fine! I resemble that statement! How about you?? Everybody has a right to speak up about their viewpoint. My point-of-view was similar to others that were NOT SURE why the story didn't "add up"! We are STILL waiting to hear from the man on the outcome! In the meantime ,my fellow bung-hole, let's not be too critical of people you truely do not know! P.S. Hope the fall off of your high horse didn't hurt too much!

I'm sorry guys for not being able to post sooner, I was extremely busy but here is what happened:
The shop did not keep the evidence of course. The only thing they showed me was the 8 spark plugs that they said they had to send to Ford. They appeared to be covered with some kind of oil.
The mechanic reiterated that Ford will not cover similar repair in the future which sounds so ridiculous I do not know what to make of it - either the mechanic lied, or Ford is trying to scare their customer so that in case I did modify the car that I would not do it again.
My wife is more upset than I'm as she knows how much I loved the car.
I'm selling my car as I already bought another one. I can not drive a car with it's main part not being under warranty even though it still has 4 more years of warranty. I could fight it and even take Ford to court but I have enough stress in my life.
I think Ford really dropped a heavy ball here. It will take me many years to be comfortable enough to consider buying an american made car again. One of the reasons why I bought this car, is to buy American and to support domestic economic growth. Sadly, reliability has made it an unsafe investment for me in the future.
My new car is much slower than the 5.0 so here is a proof to Ford that I'm not into speed/modifying.

I don't think enough questions were asked. It's either something they should cover, or it's not. The warranty isn't one time use.

Still sounds like something is wrong.

OP......will you inform the future buyer of your car about the lack of warranty?

The mechanic has no authority to void a warranty either.

I sent a message to Deysha and asked her to check whats going on with my case. I hope she can clarify this for me.
The buyer will be fully informed. Would it make sense to void the warranty on an engine completely even though the car will have a new owner and a new engine? Ford has a lot of explaining to do if the warranty void is associated only with the VIN and not the owner/VIN combo which by itself is absurd.

That's why I think there's a lot more questions that need to be asked. Who is saying that the warranty will be void?...The dealership or Ford? Either way, that's rediculous and I'd want a full explanation as to why.

Still waiting for Deysha to respond

It's been 10 days since Deysha replied but still no answer. She is very quick to reply to forum posts but my messages to her are left unanswered. Deysha, please get back to me with an update. My car looses value every day, I can not afford to wait any longer as I need to list it for sale. If you are unable to provide the answer please let me know and I will use other channels.
