Another 2011 GT engine failure
I'm breaking my promise not to post here even though I'm a man of word. It just bothers me that people are so quick to blame with no visual or technical evidence. I described everything that happened in my first post. If you guys were genuinely interested in what happened you could have just asked me specific questions. I was here all the time, I did not run away. My wife is very surprised with my patience when I told her that I still check the latest posts here.
I'm sure engineers at Ford are not stupid and can find out exactly what happened to the car.
When I received a call from the shop the guy said that they found oil in the tank and said that Ford will not cover the expense as it looks like an act of a vandalism. I do not know if they came to this conclusion by just looking at the color of the fuel, or did some tests. 2 days later they told me that when they smudge the fuel on the finger it dissipated completely leaving only dark residue. I think oil would still be felt on the finger as it can not evaporate. So maybe the dark substance are some charred particles from a bad cylinder, I do not know. There was only 2 or 3 gallons of fuel when that happened, so may be it was very easy for the fuel to change color.
Please just ignore me if you already made up your mind. The easiest way to find more about it is to call the shop, you know their name.

At some point, no matter how busy you are, if you want your $30k+ car repaired and repaired properly, without you having to pay for it, you are going to HAVE to take some time to become informed. I don't know jack squat about how to mine for gold. But if some showed up in my yard, you can bet your *** I would learn. And quickly.
Keep us informed about what the over all condition with your car turns out to be. Now that it seems like this is real and not some GM troll, I'm interested in helping anyway I can.
ok so ford is not covering this engine? im just a little confused. I completely understand if it was vandalism...although i didnt think oil in the gas would grenade it...we are here to help. where do you stand now? is it an insurance claim? the shop that working on it is it a dealer? keep us informed. good luck
In OP defense, the tech claims a it was oil, but it could be alot of other things that were thrown in, something that can clog injectors and cause vehicle to run lean, will deffinatly cause block damage.
Ford is covering the replacement of the engine, the shop rep said the only thing that is not covered is the cleaning of the gas tank which I agreed to pay for. Insurance agents were in contact with Ford, they also sent their specialists to the shop. I guess insurance agents were able to prove that it was not vandalism. The shop belongs to a dealership which has a different location (a few miles away). I asked them to keep a sample of the fuel for me if future tests will be necessary and to hopefully find out exactly what happened. They said the car should be ready by the end of the week.
Cool, i am interested to see pictures as well. Very strange problem. I would ask the tech who replaces the motor to take pictures of the intenals. I am curious to see if number 8 piston is fubared..
Reading this post brought back memories of what people I know have accidently put into their fuel tanks. I know of farm wifes who have backed up to the diesel tank and filled their gas burning cars tank with diesel fuel from the tank with the tractor fuel. Needless to say, the engine did not run well untill the fuel was finally used up and fresh gas put in the tank. No harm was done to the engine. I know dealers who check fuel samples for engines that dont run good because some people try to use E85 in cars designed to be run on gasoline. Then they wonder why their car does not run right.

In general? Yeah. But on a Mustang enthusiast website? No.
Nothing changed. The V6 is still the base model. For most, it's still about the looks and not HP/etc.
