Step one:
USB with Fat32 format
Set your input on your iPod to AN-IN2
Create your image - Pixel Size should be 800 * 480 / Save as 16 bit Full Color BMP and the setting of RGB of R5,G6,B5 <-- important
Put your image on your USB drive and plug it into the iPod connection

Step two:
Press and hold (do not let go!!) Volume Down + Power
Press the red triangle (with a pen - your finger will not work) and release (still holding onto Volume Down + Power)
Wait for the device to boot completely and do not let go until the buttons illuminate.

Step three:
Select OEM Image
Select the image you have on your USB key*
Any good free programs that can change the RGB settings? I don't have Photoshop and didn't have much luck with Google.

GIMP is a decent free image editor

Gimp can do it - most other programs I tried can't.

One thing not obvious if you haven't used Gimp is that you don't want to SAVE the file as a BMP, you want to EXPORT the file as a BMP.

Once you've used it you'll understand, but it trips a lot of people up at first.

They will not transfer you intro subscription to a new tuner, but if you are persuasive, sometimes they will give you a nice discount on prepaid 1,2 or 3 years of service since you are losing you intro subscription. Most often though the call either goes bad or worse than bad.

In the past the tuners were all brand specific, but that seems to be mostly sorted out now.

Cheers,
12V Guy,

just to confirm - if I go with a Kenwood DNX890HD - it has rear ports for both the Maestro RR and a SiriusXM SXV200V1 tuner? (and of course would be using the MUS1 Dash Kit). Correct?

Would like to insure I can realize the benefits of the RR module (Sync, etc..), and also obtain Satellite radio before I pull the trigger on the HU.

Thanks!

I just installed the Kenwood DNX890HD and I can confirm, yes, the 890 allows you to hook up the Maestro RR and the Sirius SXV200V1 into your Mustang using the MUS1 dash kit...I used the exact same setup in my 2014. If you want to retain your OEM radio antenna, you will also need a radio antenna adapter so your antenna will plug into the Kenwood head unit...you can get the adapter at Autozone or Advance Auto Parts.

Here's a pic of my install.

That isn't really the issue - the DDX370 will work with Idata and I'd assume will have the digital gauges. However, it might not be easier to use and it doesn't have the separate Sirius port, so you would have to skip Sirius or use a PnP unit like the XM Onyx.
DDX370 does not work with Mustang kit and will not support any of the new screens (most important for you guys is CLIMATE). Sorry. It's a 2012 implementation in a 2013 A/V unit.

Lowest end model is DNX570HD, but for a few bucks more, the Excelon model, DNX690HD, sounds MUCH better.

Cheers,

Correct, you will be able to have it all.

Sorry - I thought DDX-370 was a 2013 model, it is listed on the same site as the DNX-570 here: http://kenwoodusa.com/Car_Entertainm..._n_Navigation/

It is a 2013 model, but the hardware platform is the 2012 version. It isn't super clear to everyone, but suffice it to say, you have to buy one of the 2013 Navi units.

Best,

12V Guy

You might want to update the first post of this thread - http://www.f150forum.com/f30/maestro...ention-192560/ - to say that the DDX-370 is not fully compatible. That's where I got the info that it had to be a 2013 unit. Granted you did say DNN or DNX and I didn't read through all seven pages to see if it came up later.

On a personal note - it's a bit disappointing to me that even newer 2013 Kenwood basic models are not including the IDS port and functionality. Not everyone wants (or wants to pay for) a full navigation radio.

What are you asking him to do? I read the posting from the link and it clearly states 2013 DNX or DNN Kenwood models.

in order to retain Sync and do the rest of what is indicated below, Maestro must be installed with one of the 2013 Kenwood DNN or DNX Navigation radios. The DDX-370 does NOT support this functionality, even though it is a 2013 model.
I'd like to see the text in red added - although it is mostly my fault for not CAREFULLY reading the thread.

To make it more clear, shouldn't he list the other radios that won't work also? TIC

As I said - main issue was that I didn't read the other thread CAREFULLY.
