Installed new front speakers

I forgot to mention -- there's a post at the beginning of this blog showing the sequence of steps to remove the door panels. VERY helpful. But it says there are 7 x 7mm screws (plus a few other things) holding the panels on; I had 8 x 7mm screws in my doors. FYI.

After seeing these threads I decided to upgrade my fronts to these Pioneers. 100% improvement over stock.
Easy job maybe 15mins each side. I used the Metra 72-5600 Ford Speaker Harness to make the units plug and play.
Rears are next.

Going to use the stock amps for now. From what I've heard, it's a night and day difference even on the stock amps.

Hey everybody!
Great thread! Thanks for all of the great info!
My 2011 5.0 arrives on July 1st and I'm already thinking about upgrading the speakers... I tried to read through the whole thread, but couldn't confirm if the TS-D6802R Pioneers will work with my 2011 Shaker 500 system. I don't have the electronics package by the way... (That's navigation, right?)
Are TS-D6802R Pioneers still the best deal going right now?
Also what plug and play adapters would I need?
Thanks a lot!

This item looks nice with factory plug and play. Just to give some more power to the upgraded speakers. I was thinking of putting in a 5 channel amp but thats alot of wiring to go from the stock speaker location back to the amp and then back to the speakers.

I really want those kicker woofers, but I wish I could continue to use the 401A grills. The kicker ones look goofy. I wonder if a spacer could be constructed by a good shop to relocate the stockers to clear the taller speaker.

I ordered a week ago the Shelby replacement woofers and my card was charged and my order is still "Processing". I sent them an email and no reply.
