i received my transmission this week along with the bolts I was missing to assemble everything. I'll attach the transmission to the engine then drop both in this weekend. I should have everything I need to get this done, we will see! If I can drop in the engine I will be able to figure out a if I have room for injectors on top or not.

I was able to get the 3.7 motor mounts to bolt on to the ecoboost, despite having totally different motor mounts than the f150. I also was able to get the oem boss clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, and pilot bearing to bolt up to the ecoboost engine. How awesome is it that the 3.5 ecoboost motor has never been in front of a manual transmission in factory form but yet has the spot made in the crankshaft for the pilot bearing. Go ford!

Bad news, I made a mistake and bought a mustang gt transmission, I thought they were the same as the V6. Wrong, bolt pattern is different and it will simply not work with the ecoboost. I'm ordering a 3.7 manual transmission and putting the GT trans up for sale.

If anyone needs a mt82 for a GT with 3k miles please pm me. If anyone has a 3.7 mt82 that want to sell please pm me! Thanks

Well once I figured out that it's going to be weeks before I get another tranny I decided to go ahead and drop in the engine. 4.0 v6 k member, 4.0 motor mounts, 3.7 mustang motor mounts (engine side), and 3.5 ecoboost engine bolted up flawlessly. I spent 20 minutes at most installing the engine, although nothing is hooked up.

Angles back some because the trans and trans mount isn't installed yet.

Looking good! I put the hood on and checked my clearances. The oem turbo piping is barely going to fit under the hood but it does fit. It looks like the injectors might fit on top too, I will know for sure tomorrow.

For fuel injection I have a plan. I ordered a factory set of 3.7 injectors and a factory 3.7 fuel rail. If I expoxy the injector bungs in to the f150 intake manifold in the same location as the 3.7 then everything should fit. The height with the factory injectors and fuel rail will clear the hood no problem. I decided to go with oem injectors since the are good for 300+ hp and the DI is good for 400+ hp, that's more than enough fuel.

Here is a pic I found online of the fuel rail and injectors for the 3.7, I plan on installing this setup on top of the f150 intake manifold.

What I've learned so far....

1. If this project is done on a 2011+ Manual trans mustang it woule save you about $2,500-3k. You wouldn't need to swap the trans, steering, and rear axle.

2. This is the cheapest HP you can put in a mustang. A pro charger added to a 3.7 costs $5k, twin turbo added to a 3.7 costs 7-10k and you still don't have forged internals. Most of these setups are making 500rwhp or less. For $3k you can buy a low mile ecoboost and $2k for the control pack, without adding more fuel and just tuning you can get 500 RWHP. This gives you forged internals and the ability to get more power fairly easily, plus it's an engine designed from the factory for TT. For an extra $3k you can get 600-650 RWHP where the 3.7 is tapped out on factory internals. If you do a ecoboost swap you can get $2k for the 3.7 engine....when the project is done you would have approx $3k and double the HP, assuming you did all the work.

3. Compared to a coyote swap this is much less expensive, coyote motors are $5-7k, plus control pack $2k, and that only gives you 400 HP.

I appreciate the support! I forget that I'm a little nuts sometimes and need to be reminded haha. I'm very fortunate to have a job that pays me to be a mad scientist, I work with engineers to develop new products. It's fun to tear things apart and hopefully rebuild them better. Doesn't always work out but I think I'm going to win on this one!

I put on the gt500 strut tower brace which clears the hood, I checked and there is easily 4" of space for the injector and fuel rail, that's plenty.

Another clearance pic, I used the Gatorade bottle shoved behind the motor to hold it level.

I installed the gt500 radiator, ac condenser, fan....everything went smooth. I have an issue with the radiator hoses, the ecoboost has a smaller diameter hose connections than the gt500 radiator. I'm going to check Home Depot for a metal hose barb reducer to make the transistion. Not a big deal, I'm sure I can make it work.

The f150 AC condenser hoses do not bolt up to the mustang ac condenser. I'm hoping that the 3.7 compressor hoses, which should bolt up to the f150 compressor, should fix the issue.

Cool man! Awesome to see you subscribed!

For those who don't know about full-race you should, super cool company with some great products and a great reputation.

http://www.full-race.com

They offer f150 ecoboost turbos upgraded with Ford GT compressor wheels that is a must have for my project car. Geoff is an engineer who works for full-race and is very active in the forums helping people with their projects, mostly on other forums. I've been reading his posts for a year gaining information on the ecoboost, he's obviously got some friends at ford. He turns up with some very technical information sometimes that no one else seems to have.

Welcome!
