The 6 piston calipers will not give you one ounce more stopping power on the street. Your front tires contact patch is the limit. And the 6 piston calipers are not the best choice for track day use because they don't stop much better than the 4 pistons (if at all), there is less pad and rotor selection and the rotors are more expensive to replace. The track crowd goes with the 4 piston units. And the 4 piston units work very, very well even at the track.
I ended up buying a new 14" kit that was discounted because of a large scratch on one caliper and it was missing one rotor, shipping damage. Even after buying the rotor I still saved $550 over the new 6 piston set, totally worth it.

The ABS module is the same for all Mustangs You could put a 20-piston caliper on your car and it wouldn't matter.
The four-piston should be more than good enough (and a LOT less expensive).

Starting to look like a motor that will run! There's only a few plugs left to deal with, it feels good to be getting close. I worked on wiring most of the day, almost got all the vacuum lines done too. There's a few parts I need to get from ford, hopefully I can get them before next weekend.

Hi, I am doing a project the same as yours, with the same engine, but my main concern is with the wiring. I bought the engine with the ecu, intercooler piping and intercooler, a few of the parts that you have posted. I have questions about problems you may have encountered with the wiring, key programming if necessary, and if it's imperative to buy the abs pump, (is there a way to repin the plug to the mustang's pump?). All of your help will be much appreciated, all that you have posted has already been very helpful. but this is definitely not the easiest engine to swap, althoug I will try to do a front mount intercooler with an aftermarket one from CxRacyng and 3" piping.
was checking out the oil cooler part but did not quite understand it, guess when I get my hands on the engine a lot of things will become more clear.

Sounds cool, what are you putting the engine in?
Abs might can be used from the mustang, I just wanted to eliminate it as a problem so I just went with the f150 abs. It turned out to be a PITA but doable.
My advice would be to wait till I'm done with the electrical before starting that part of your project. There's some significant challenges ahead that I don't have answers for yet. Lexxion lives 10 min from my house and he's coming over to help this weekend, over the next few weekends we should get these questions answered. Yes the key will need to be programmed but it may be more complicated than that. The PATS lives in the f150 SJB and it lives in the cluster for the mustang. That could be tricky.

After I get the car running and driving I was thinking about another major modification. I was thinking about putting a 2015 IRS in the car. Sure there will be challenges, but I wonder if it's doable. Anyone have any idea if this is possible? I can buy a IRS setup for $1500 so it's not too expensive to try.

The 15 rear track is a lot wider than our cars. Even if you could get the mounting points to work, even with very high offset wheels, I don't think they would fit under our fenders (unless you go wide body). In which case, please do it and let me know how it goes haha

I have a friend with a 2015 GT and I asked him to come by so I can measure it all out.

That's an idea, not sure which platform that is on. The Ford Taurus platform is too wide, I've looked at that before. The fushion platform would be much narrower and I think that's what the LS is based on. It's not a performance based design so I would rather use the mustang GT IRS if possible.

The LS IRS, even if you could make it work, just wouldn't be stout enough for the power you're going to be putting down, not to mention there is zero aftermarket support for beefing it up.
I know there was at least one company that was making custom IRS kits for S197s. Let me see if I still have the link...

The 2015 is 1.5" wider than the 2014, that's no big deal at all. Not sure what that the wheel to wheel measurement is but if they are 1.5" wider I can put 3/4" spacers on the front of each wheel and call it a day.

I'm planning on doing the RTR flares when they become available to purchase!

But our rear wheels are already almost flush with the rear fenders. 1.5" is about 37mm give or take 1-2mm. You'd need wheels with a 37mm higher offset than what we have, to tuck into the fender. That's why I'm saying you'd need flares or wide body, in which case you'd be good to go.

This is 1" all the way around with my wheels.
