I wonder if that KR on the showroom at my local dealer just got devalued yesterday>

My question George, and yes you did mention it before, why is it not street legal? What keeps it from being so?

Anybody?

And it sounds like George has already made up his mind on his next car. Maybe sooner than later George. You did just have a birthday, right?

I must agree. I liked the standard lights especially the way they look in the shot of the Kona Blue Shelby. Looks good with the Shelby front end. And I wasn't a fan of the standard lights before now.

The KR's exhaust is too loud I think.

Wel then I'm not street legal...but I didn't buy it from the dealer that way. You should be able to drive the car you buy from a Ford dealer home...legally.

Beats me. My guess would be it is EPA related.

All I know is Ford's window sticker on the inside of the passenger side window clearly states it is not street legal and the rectangular space where that information appears is corvered (more like concealed) with a stick on picture of a silver w/blue stripes GT500KR on the outside of the window. I'm sure that is not Ford's idea of providing full disclosure.

Apparently most Ford dealers were clueless and found out about this minor technicality only after taking delivery.

Ooooops!

Compared to the GT and base model this one has gotten a lot of attention. I'd prefer an 10' but if an 09' can be had on the cheap I may go that route......what do you guys think???
I was wondering the same.........especially since isnt this a quick refresh until the 2011 model????

Exactly what I was thinking. Sounds like there may be a Vapor silver/black used GT500 available soon.

The Roush 427Rs come with their off road axle backs in the trunk and are a "dealer installed" item to avoid that issue.

2010 GT500 MSRP (including destination & delivery, as well as gas guzzler tax)...
  • Coupe = $48,475
  • Convertible = $53,375
Optional Equipment MSRP...
  • 58X Electronics Package = $2,195
  • 51H HID Headlamps = $525
  • 918 Shaker 1000 Stereo = $1,295
  • 971 Shelby Car Cover = $375
Are those actual prices? If so, this car is priced out of the market. I love the new look and interior, but 50K for Mustang. No Way!

Always gotta chime in with a "glass half empty attitude" don't ya? What do you think people paid for their 2007 and 2008 GT500s in their high-point? Tens of Thousands OVER MSRP I can tell you that (which equates to $60-$75K for their GT500s). Your in the VERY SMALL minority who think this won't sell. I am already talking to several people about ordering one. And the car hasn't been "officially" introduced yet (Auto Show style). People want what they want, and will pay for it. Don't doubt that.

Is it more $$ than the Camaro SS and SRT-8 Challenger? Sure it is, I won't deny that. But has anyone really found out how much a FULLY LOADED SS costs (all options)? We know its gonna be in the low $40K range maxed out. And I don't see the SRT-8s flying off the lots (there are LOTS of them sitting now). This thing is easily 100+hp more powerful (and knowing SVT, the motor is under-rated, as usual) than both those cars, and still lighter (an assumption, but a good guess at the same right). Why can't you just let people be happy with what they see. Would you rather the car NOT come out, and have the entire "muscle-car revival" die out and we all drive Smart cars? Let the people be happy for what it is.

I'm sorry everyone, but most of you all in this thread are so happy with what you see, and I hate it when someone spoils it.

I actually was of the same mindset regarding the price in terms of the absolute jump. Of course, I understand performance costs $$, but the last $50,000 or so Mustang I saw from Ford was produced in a quantity of 300. I thought "wow, that's A LOT of coin" for the car but the engine was such a big part of that amortization over a limited number.

I suppose one has to do a price analysis in light of hp/dollar for other cars and then look at the (relatively) small increase for what one gets.

That said, despite it being "expensive for a Mustang" in my book, I think this is an excellent car I would love to own!

Can ya get me an X-plan on that??

They'll probably say that 43 MPG isn't enough... here's hoping that Pelosi and Waxman keep their hands off of the muscle cars, but I'm not getting my hopes up.

I like it. I have been waiting for this to debut since we saw the 2010. I was a little iffy on the nose, and the stripes in the seats im not so sure about. But overall I like. Cant wait to see more of it.

Sylvester is a keeper. I am excited with the prospect of the new gen but it won't be at the expense of getting rid of the '08. The earliest would be the 2011 MY, so for 2010 I'll just be a cheerleader for the guys that get them.

Agreed. And the "early adopters" who already shelled out big ADMs have already gotten there's. Doubtless there will be a few who will add another - or trade in - but everything you said above is bang on, IMO.

And the current economy means that dealer ADMs will not last long...if they even try it at all.

Have you noticed that these same people never disparage BMW for building the M3 and M5, or Mercedes for building AMGs?

It's a joke. Someone should turn Clarkson loose on them.
