I still have the uper strut noise with the newer mounts on my car being lowered 1.3 in the front. Others that are lowered in this thread have stated they no longer have the noise. I don't know if they are lowered more than one inch.
I just picked up my ride after having the updated mounts installed at the dealer. I have to say I agree with the majority who have had it done; it's like driving a different car, and I have the Saleen suspension kit. I'm not positive on the drop, but I think it's 1.5".

Reading the TSB it seems that this TSB only applies to coupes, I understand that converible already had this bar under the car (don't know the exact name) but other parts are also included in this TSB. DOes it mean that convertibles already have those revised parts ?

This one is the strut mounts. The cap that sits atop the strut and holds the spring against it. I think they added the brace on the convertible to the 07 or 08 models.

But when I read the TSB it doesnt seem to apply to convertible, that's why I was asking the question.

Also from what I undersdtand convertibles alway had that bar (I have an 05 convertible and it it's on) but they started to install this bar on coupes as well strating somwhere in 07.

as far as I understand its a new part used on the 08 models. I am betting your vert has the same mounts the coupes came with. I'm not going to bet a lot tho

Regarding the Steeda G-Trac bar, how did you manage to torque the bolts to 129 ft-lb using the allen head bolt? Or did you torque it to a lower value? It looks like I would have to buy new Grade 5 or Grade 8 hex-head bolts.

The TSB number is 07-18-2. The publication date is August 24, 2007. I hope this helps.

You just need the right sized allen head 3/8 or 1/2 inch drive socket. Or cut the correct allen head "L" wrench and then use a 6 point socket on the other end of the now straight cut allen wrench.

Digging for old threads? lol

I just got the replacement mounts from Ford today (no charge) and will be installing them myself when I do the Eibach pro kit and Dspecs tomorrow. It will be a big difference with all the new parts, I hope it takes care of the noise. Otherwise no big deal, I have dealt with it long enough as is. And no extra work for me, or out of pocket money.

just a lite clunking or poping noise (knuckling is what ferd calls it I believe) going over bumps from around 20mph or less. The sound comes from the front end.

Sounds like the mount issue to me.

Funny I got one of those letters from Ford asking to survey my visit. Parts guy had to use my VIN to get the parts covered.
Service was top notch! (Considering I did it myself, lol)

I'll be getting this done next time I bring the car in. Hopefully the Roush springs aren't an issue...

Has anyone with a concertible had TSB 07-18-2 performed?

In reading this thread and reading over the TSB 07-18-2, this appears to be the issue I notice with my '07 GT convertible, produced in 6/06.

The front end has a "loose" feel, some "clunking" at slow speeds when turning-just doesn't seem normal for a car with 12k miles.

Has anyone with a convertible had the tsb performed on their car?

One think I am curious is why would Ford only say it pertains to the coupe and not the convertibles?

Guys, I had the "strut popping" issue and just yesterday replaced the factory strut mounts with the J & M Camber plates. I must say these are very high quality pieces. Anyhow, my popping is gone. I can now turn the wheel at slow speeds without feeling like i'm making popcorn.

However, now it feels like the car is more sensitive to bumps on the road, like there is not enough dampening and the tires are transferring more of the road through the chassis, if that makes any sense. Is this normal? Is it time for better dampeners? BTW, I have the FRPP springs.

Someone please enlighten me.

Stoenr,

Did you replace any of the fasteners or did you re-use what was on the car? I'm off to the dealership tomorrow for an oil change and hope to grab a set of the revised mounts.

Jon
