Well, someone on another forum who works for Ford posted the part # for the new upper strut mount which fixes the thunk/clunk sound over bumps at low speed. he also noted that at this time there is no TSB, so many people have just gone to the dealer with the new part # in hand. Some dealers have replaced them, others won't without a TSB or bulletin from Ford.

Can you post a link to the thread where you read someone actually had this done under a TSB from Ford? Many people are waiting for that TSB before they go in, including me.

warranty?

wow! this is what one of the people posted:

"The upper strut mount (8R3Z-18183-B) is covered under the normal BTB warranty. If you have the "chuckle" condition then that is the part the dealer will order to eliminate the noise."

what is BTB warranty mean?

thanks!

My 2007 GT is at the dealership right now having the upper mounts replaced. Also, my passenger side window lost it's "auto up" feature somehow. I'll report back when I pick her up.

Anyone have an official TSB number for this yet? Should it be added to the TSB list?

I still don't believe there is or will be a TSB. If the upper mounts are making noise, the dealer will replace them with the new updated part. I know the new part number will be on all the new '08 models. And, yes mine got fixed and is now quiet!

Yes. The top of the upper spring "is" the mount, so they remove the strut/spring assembly, compress the spring, remove the upper mount, install the new one, then decompress the spring and reinstall.

Thats what I thought just wanted to make sure. I hope they don't give me any grief about my eibach springs. Other wise I will have to do it myself. except for the alignment of course

They will most likely need to realign the car if pulling the assembly requires loosening the camber bolt. Unless they can drop the suspension far enough to get the strut mount out, this should be done. Probably should anyway to do things right.

If your alignment came in to spec after the eibach install they shouldn't have any ground to stand on if they give you trouble.

I went to local Dealer to discuss on this.. as soon as they found out I've installed Saleen Racecraft Suspension, Steeda mounts and other suspension mods, they said they'll not do that under warranty. I said FU, ordered the parts and paid myself $51/piece, hope they're ready to pick up tomorrow or wed.

It sounds unbelievable that the revised mount will cure the problem since I have Steeda HD mounts and they clunk... but it kinda makes sense, since the major upgrade with the new mount is the actual rubber insulator between spring and upper strut mount... and all of the aftermarket mounts, Including steeda uses the OEM rubber insulator. And since aftermarket mounts are metal (OEM is some sort of POS plastic) the aftermarket mounts are makingthe clunk louder!

I hope these will fix the clunk. I'll be installing them on Thu along with Some rear axle bracing and girdle cover from CHE/LPW.

They do fix the clunk! Quiet as Lexus now. If your car clunks, get the new parts.
