new TSB on front upper strut mounts
new uppr mounts are 58 a piece. Just so happened to run in to my sales man when I was buying the parts. Told him I was still ticked about how I was jacked around last time I had my car in for service. So any way I got to use his discount which brought the price down to 41 a piece.
Put them on when I got home. Seems quiet for the short ride I took.

Yes, the definition of the sound is "hollow/lumber" sound. This was a major pieve (sp?) I had with the car (sounded like my '99 C5 did over bumps). My dealer's cool...apologized for taking 3 days instead of 2 to do it....and I got a loaner to drive in the meantime.
They're doing mine under warranty, so I only have to pay to put in the rear shocks, the k-brace(both bolts
), and the custom-spec alignment, which I will again hold off on for a couple weeks to get everything set first..
I called my dealer today with TSB number. He called back later and said that it had not been released in Canada yet. What 's going on ?Will it be released here ? Does anyone have any info on this ? If it works, as we're led to believe , then I want it. It is the klunk that makes the car sound like junk!!!!!!
By the way , I was told Canadian TSB's take longer to release because they have to be translated into French . Okay, whose doing it Stephen Harper ??????????????

Mine too! Feels much more solid.

also I think your springs at settled in in the first few miles you drive.
Hey! Glenn, If you will, please! keep us posted on the strut mounts! It will be a few days before I drive my stang after installing the new mounts. I'm installing the Steeda bumpsteer kit too and I can't get it to the shop I want to do the alignment untill the end of next week So it it will be a few days before I really am able to test the new mounts!
The factory 18"s finish is so soft you can blow on it wrong and nick it. I was standing right next to our tech doing my alignment and we as acting like it was neurosurgery and still nicked one of my wheels. I barely dropped one of my lug nuts on one(more or less just fumbled it only 3" or so from the wheel) and it also nicked it.
Correct, it's a 2 hr job, but they had to order the parts....I initially thought they had them there when I dropped it of...but the silver lining is that the Svc Mgr felt indebted...so I sat down and talked about mods and 1 pc alum DS and vibes in the rear end, and he's gonna work with me on that...even though I replaced the rear sway bar, panhard rod, uca, and of course the DS....
Just spent A day and a half doing a 3 hour job! I meticulously reinstalled my front lowering springs on Tokico HP struts, with the new upper strut mounts, ( 8R3Z-18183-B Gold stud ) also installed Steeda bumpsteer kit and the Steeda G spot brace...
I spent 90 bucks on the new upper strut mounts and my first impressions are this!........they are JUNK!! too. I have not had the Stang aligned yet, but after some some minor bumps on my test drive I started to notice some familiar noises! I have parked the Stang and the next drive will be to Alignment shop! I hope I'm wrong but the only resolve for any body running lowering spring in the 1.5 drop range may well be a set of something like these!...
Please describe just exactly what you hear and/or feel when going over a bump. I know the ride on a GT is much more harsh (too strong a word) than, say my wife's Camry. Just exactly what am I trying to compare the condition to. I'd like to know. Our service guy said this wasn't an issue with our car, as it was built in November of 2006. Is he shooting straight with me?
Don't get to excited! Because Upper strut mount (8R3Z-18183-B Gold Stud) isn't a fix for anything! Maybe if your using the factory spring or maybe something with only 1'' drop or less! but if your running a 1.5 drop like I am your humped ! And heres why, lowering springs have less spring hight..Duh!! and intern don't give the strut mount enough counter tension to hold it together! If your buying these junk mounts, save your money till you have enough to buy a set of these or something like them!

Wrong, sir. They may not be a fix for lowered Stangs, but with stock springs/struts, it IS a major upgrade...I can attest to the fact that the car's front end feels solid over bumpswhereas before the TSB it sounded like a 2x4 being dropped......and if someone's S197 still has stock springs/struts, the TSB shouldn't cost anything...probably even if it's out of warranty.
