new TSB on front upper strut mounts
I decided to put my stock springs back on if its going to save me 100 bucks why not. In the process of going back to stock I found one of my sway bar end links was loose. I know the nuts are a one time use and I need to change them. That did quiet it up a lot lol. The service writer said this is the first complaint they have had for that problem. I figure thats the standard answer for every thing
Believe me, I tried everything to get rid of the clunk. I'm also sure that EVERY Mustang has the clunk. Some clunk less that others... the new mounts really cure the clunk and my car drives great now. AND QUIET!
I haven't noticed any clunks going over bumps. Is it real obvious? My car is an 05 GT built in June 05. Is it something I should bring it in for if I don't hear anything or is it a safety problem even if you don't hear it.
For anyone who has done the new upper strut mount job themself I was wondering whether the new mounts came with new nuts since I've heard that they are a one time use only. I've also heard that you need new sway bar endlink nuts as well. The reason I am asking is I might try and do the job myself if my dealer refuses to replace them. I am taking my car there Thurs. so hopefully they will be able to hear the clunk sound and replace the upper strut mounts under warrenty. Hopefully my dealer would know if they are one time use only nuts and try not to use the originals.
Fix applied to mine last Saturday 8-17-2007, quiet and smooth-official TSB to be released on Monday by FoMoCo, also an update to the original TSB a well-will add info as it is available.
In response to the nut question, Ford publications always instructs that fastening nuts be replaced-legal thing mostly....

TBS on the Mount Monday ?? Great. Plz post when posted. I'm taking it in this week. Ford dealers ship has told me before that they could not find a problem.
I'm leaving my car at the dealership and telling them that I'm not coming back until the folowing problems are fixed
#1 strut mounts( the car sounds and feels like junk)
#2 New fuel pump. ( went to NJ last week car was bucking like a bronco ( I want a smooth pony , not a bucking crazy horse)
#3 Notchy gear shif. This is the worst felling gear shifting ever/ So notchy and sometimes hard to get in gear. (Feels like ya have to force it)
To tell ya the truth. I'm not really happy with the quality of the new stangs. I thought they (at first) were so much better than the privious years. I'm not so sure anymore

dealer not happy about TSB's
Had the oil changed today. When I went to pick it up I handed them the TSB's. One for the fuel pump and the other for the strut mounts and made a Thursday appointment. They said that they have to check if there is actually something wrong. I told them I would be dropping it off and will pick it up when its done. It has come to that when dealing with dealers.
QUESTION?? Should I tune my car back to factory tune before bringing it in?? They has to plug it in to test the fuel pump ,I think??? Any Ideas here?? really , I don't know how they can test the fuel pump without driving it 50 miles and experiencing the bucking themselves. Has anyone been given a hard time by a dealer on TSB's

May as well just buy the parts and replace them yourself if the dealer won't cover it.
