Alright, I'll make sure to keep your car in mind when it gets sold.

Also if the starter is starting to go bad does it start to stick? It doesn't always do it, but recently its started to occasionally give the grinding noise when I first try to start it.

That doesn't sound like sticking, that sounds like it's not fully engaged. Either your flexplate is damaged, the starter is damaged, or it needs to be shimmed. Pull the starter and look at the gear teeth.

Mberglo's right. If you let it go too long, it can actually wear out teeth on the flywheel so that the starter will no longer engage at certain points. At this point, you'd have to drive around with the bellhousing inspection plate off and carry a really long screwdriver or crow bar to manually rotate the flywheel (and engine) a few degrees to where the starter can mesh with good teeth. Ask me how I know this...

Should find out later this week if they are going to buy it or not. They really liked it when I showed them it today.

The car that will replace it right now looks to be a 03 350Z.

I did spend a $170 on it that should have fixed it, but what was done didn't work. I've just driven it with the problem still til now. I'm fixing it before the people buy the car from me.

I actually have 2 3 speeds sitting out in our little storage house, but I don't have a driveshaft that will fit them.

Can anyone tell me the difference in a 3 speed yoke and a 5 speed/C4 yoke?

EDIT: Never mind found they are the same.
