1 week ago the mustang looked nothing like this. In 1 week I have finished all body work and it is now officially ready for the final coats of primer. (crappy cell phone pic)

I filled in and wet sanded the low spots from where the emblems and rocker panel moldings were. Filled in and wet sanded the 3 dents I found. filled in and sanded down any paint chip or scratch that has been made recently. Then sanded the whole car down with 150 grit sand paper. I just finished off wet sanding over that with 600 grit.

I meet the guy that is going to paint it tomorrow to go over a price and see when he can get it painted. I hope if everything works out to have it in primer by tomorrow afternoon and then have it all prepped and sent over to him Sunday.

Talking with the paint guy and if the price is right I am going to be using HOK UC35 clear and probably PPG Shopline Candy Apple Red. I am going to talk to him some more about the paint, since the underside of the hood and trunk lid are still red I think I could just get them color matched so we don't have to repaint them.

There is a picture I took of it Saturday before I left to drive around. It was fun finally being able to drive it around even though it looked like crap.

Jake, It's looking good in the pic from Saturday. I read in another thread your mention of flat black. Spray you one more double coat of the gray primer for a final blocking after the cruise and to cover up the areas you've been touching up with the glaze. Don't worry about what it looks like, whenever I drive one of my Stangs with primer on it, I usually get thumbs ups and looking good comments because people can tell you've been working on it. kennyg

Thinking that after paint I could go get some tint. Looking at 25% on sides and rear(Yes I know limit is 32%).
I was going to put my blackout headlights in, but when I pulled them out of the box I noticed they had spider cracked for some reason. It wasn't the glass itself, but the tint I sprayed on them months ago.

Still don't know how to get the glossy look, but this is what I hope to get the mustang to look like in the next couple weeks.

MS Tint Law:

no person shall drive any motor vehicle
required to be registered in this state upon the public roads, streets or
highways in this state with any window so tinted or darkened, by tinted film
or otherwise, that the interior of the vehicle is so obscured that a viewer
with vision sufficient to qualify for a Mississippi driver's license cannot
readily see into the interior of the vehicle by looking into it from outside the vehicle
I like it

20% would look good, 25% will be a bit light. Or if you wanted it to look "more legal" get the back 32% and the sides 20%, so when you're riding around with the windows down it'll look legal.

Alright I'll have to take a trip to O Riellys and get those.

Tint is a requirement on it, wouldn't look right without it. If I had picked black paint, I would have gone realy dark.

Make it your own. That's the whole persona of the Mustang. There were so many options when your '67 came out that it seems as no 2 are alike. Now you're just adding what you like. kennyg

Really. Maybe he should put some dog dish wheels back on and leave it at factory height. That would look so amazing.

Tint looks good if you do it right.

Tint is fine if is done right. On my Mazda it is trimmed a 1/4 all the way around so that when the windows roll up the edge doesn't curl back. That won't be a problem with the 67 as you have a frame on the window. Have you replaced your front and rear gaskets? If not the time to do that is before your paint. I would even suggest having the tint done right before getting the paint done so you don't have the tint guys all around your new paint.

I've looked over the gaskets and they are still good IMO. The front one has some cracks in it and rear I haven't seen any, but both still have the rubbery characteristic. I do have new beltline weatherstripping for the doors and rear quarter windows.

I thought about getting tint done first. I might try and get it today since I have time.

we're not talking about the "1 of 2 ever made since the man learned to walk and will never see the light of day and people should be flogged for modding type" cars. For the rest of us mere mortals doing the resto mod thing on relatively normal classics I think tint is a good thing. Along with other things to give it a more modern look.
