I have to be king at finding forum deals. Scored a set of NIB Wilwood 6-piston fronts/single piston rears, slotted/2-piece rotors (14"/13") for $1800 shipped! It was an expensive day for mods lol.

Wouldn't you be better off taping the black trim so you don't have to bother with using Back-to-Black on it? I never tape the trim like that, I'm waaaay too lazy for that. I just wrap my index finger with a towel and put a dab of Back-to-Black on it and be careful.

I tried that before, but even if there's no residue on the textured moldings, I still like to get a slight sheen on the plastic trim and the only way to get that result is to do it after the sheet metal is done. Otherwise the masking tape won't stick to a treated surface. And it's easier to mask than to clean off the greasy B to B from metal.

Thank god for retirement....a black car requires extra obsessiveness, patience, and a visit to the chiropractor. Most other colors are a little more forgiving. My heart goes "sigh" when I see a RR or DIB Mustang.

what if you took a sheet of cardstock or thin cardboard and suck it under the lip of the black strip before putting on B2B? That way you wouldn't have to tape everything and waste all that time

Time I have plenty of, but that's a good idea. Next time. It'll be due for another major detailing session mid-Summer. Thanks.

That ^^^ looks good!

Today I went ahead and replaced the stock clutch fluid line with the new McLeod unit I've had for about 6 months.

The job sucks unless you have tiny hands, which I don't, and a variety of long needle-nose pliers are highly needed to do this.
I bought a few recently, and I still could've used a 45-degree angled 11-12" long one.
The bottom connection is the one that SUCKS.

Got it all done, go to put the top clip back in, it springs back and flies off into never-find-land.

Gone it is.

Ford only sells it with a new clutch line, a friend can get it locally for $56 but I'm still going crazy looking for just a clip.

Ended up ordering a VW clip off eBay since it looks almost identical to the one I had.

VW clip on left, Ford clip on right:

Ugh. It never can go smoothly... When I was doing my shifter boot, it took me like 10 minutes just to get the boot off from the center console! Hopefully the one you got will work (looks like it will from the pic)!

Thanks but as it turns out, I just found the effin lost clip!!

The little bastard was hiding in the plastic tray thingy that protects the fuel lines:

Well i got out of work early so I used it to run a few errands then picked up the gf and drove around the lake and enjoyed the hell out of it.

On the way back though I noticed a knock/tap develop. It doesnt sound like a motor knock or like the typical 5.0 ticking, in fact I cant really much. I can feel it though, I can feel it in the clutch petal and the shifter, especially when I have the petal depressed and in first gear for as im about to start from a stop. Motor pulls hard as ever, clutch feels ok, trans is shifting normally, so Im at a loss so far as to the cause but my gut says clutch. It will be going to the dealer early next week.
