Just curious, has anybody's dealer told them that Ford does an order status update on thursdays? It's been 8 weeks since my order was placed and the only answer I get from the sales manager is that there's still a hold on the 5.0 engines and my order hasn't been pulled yet. Sick of waiting. All of this nice weather in Houston is going to waste. It'll be hotter than you know what pretty soon.
True on the status update on thursday. my Dealer (and good friend) said my order was accepted and that it will be scheduled thursday. As far the hold on the 5.0.. He hadn't heard that however there is controlled commodity on the manual trans as of right now. I ordered an auto so it won't effect me.

Or who knows, maybe there's just a temporary reduction in the number of manuals due to the problems in Japan causing domino effects in manufacturing. Even though it's made in China, maybe it uses metal parts from Japan or something...

I don't think anyone here will be able to say for sure what the cause is (if there even is a "controlled commodity" on manuals), but I think it would actually be a good thing if they're doing QC work on the manuals, considering the complaints. More QC is never a bad thing.

Orignally ordered a 2011 on 10/8/10. Dealer said 8 -10 weeks 'till delivery. Dealer then contacted me on 12/20/10 & said they were "just informed" they weren't able to get a 2011, so asked if I wanted to change the order to a 2012 & we should have it by around the end of February! I then checked back with the dealer on the first week of February and they said they, "were waiting for an allocation," but they should get that "in the next week or two, so we should have the car by the end of March!" They said that, because of the delay since we "made our deal," they would have to reduce our agreed trade-in (2006 GT) by $2,000. I said I'd already lost a $1,000 factory cash rebate and the $750 Ford coupon that expired on 1/2/11, so all of a sudden the 2012 was costing me $3,750 more than the 2011 that I'd ordered in October! They said, well, sorry, we'll cancel your order if you want? Like an idiot I said, no, go ahead. I really thought I'd be able to sell my car, so the trade wouldn't be a problem? But, I've put it on Craigs List & still have it! Well, so guess the 2012's coming, supposedly, on 4/23. We'll see if it makes it across the country in the next 10-days? I sincerely doubt it! Oh well, I'm too old to learn, I guess? There, that should have made everbody else on this forum feel lots better! Glad I could help!
