VIN, Build, Delivered: The 2012 Edition
Just for those of you who missed this, OAC Sparky just posted this on another forum:
***FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE***
DATE: MARCH 31st, 2011 2359H
TO: All Ford and Lincoln/Mercury Dealers Worldwide
Due to the devastating circumstances in Japan that has affected our supply chain, we regret to announce that, for the forseeable future, we will be suspending all scheduling of Red and Black vehicles.
In the interim, we are making progress in finalizing a revised colour palette that will utilize the pigments that we have on hand. Look for the return of such classic Ford colors as Harvest Gold, Calypso Green and Deep Chocolate.
Attached is the sample letter that should be sent out to your customers awaiting serialization so that they may select an alternative color at the earliest opportunity so they do not lose their place in the production queue. Any customers that do not select a color in time will have a color of our choice selected for them.
Please forward any questions to this office, I'll do my best to make a timely response.
Regards,
Avril Fuls B.S. B.E.
Head of Pigmentation Engineering
Ford Motor Company North America
Imagine what this can mean for the color selection of Ford cars. Deep Chocolate Brown or Harvest Gold does not really make me as excited as Lava Red or Red Candy, but I guess they have to make do.

By the way my sticker is up. So here's what I learned...(in my case anyway). Car was sent to plant March 31, Sticker shows up today, one day later (sticker is dated Apr 1). My build day is still Apr 14 so that's 13 days before the build date.
OAC_Sparky? OAC_Sparky? hmm, I've heard of that guy.

I hope it's not some kind of cruel April Fool's joke.
