I use a thumb drive and it works great. I learned about music file tags and cleaned mine up so I can select album or track or genre or artist with voice commands. I produced a document on this process and have sent it to a number of members on this forum.

Where, exactly, is the second USB port under the dash on the sync module and is there one on the 2014?

I believe it's behind the glove box

I looked as best I could with a mirror and flashlight, but had no luck finding it. I did see something that has a label that says Scrap if Dropped and assumed that might be the Sync module, but I could not feel anything like a USB port.

Just a little update....I unplugged the Sync fuse for a few minutes and like magic, it works like a champ again.

Sad that we have to do this to get our radio to work in our brand new cars, great job Microsoft!

Thanks for all the help everyone, and thank you Reminisce for the little write up of how to get the fuse out.

I was having the same issue and the solution that worked for me was to replace the cheap, 3rd party cable with a genuine Apple one. No problems since.

Ahah!!! So the second USB port is a MINI USB port, similar to the cable connection on some smart phones. If I see this correctly, the male mini USB plug goes into the secondary port in the car and the thumb drive plugs into the female standard size USB port on the other end of the cable.
