Jalopnik Reports Transmission Issues

This is getting WAY off topic here. Whatever JMatero wants to do with his life over at AFM is none of our business.
Fact is SOME are having no issues with their 6M trannys and they couldn't be happier with their cars , and SOME others are experiencing various levels of problems ranging from notchy shifting to all out defective trannys. Period, end of discussion.
Let's hope FoMoCo comes forward with a permanent fix for these defective trannys.

I've been an avid supporter of Ford and the Mustang. 5th stang, 7th Ford an I'm only 28.
Unfortunately my car is not to my satisfaction. It's been to the dealer, it's not going to kill me and I can live with notchy and stuck shifter from time to time. I can even live with a knocking engine so long as it doesn't leave me stranded.
Unfortunately what that means for Ford is that they may end up losing my business. A shame because I love the Mustang. Always have, probably always will. Even if that means I don't have one parked in the garage because of poor quality control.
I will say however that Ford and my dealer have been responsive an attentive to my needs. I'm hopeful that my car will be made right. If not, as soon as I can get out from under it without taking a bath, I will.

Yeah I just wanted to say that some of us are having what I would consider legitimate issues. This 1 (ONE) guy is for sure having problems whether they're legitimate or he just wants attention i have no idea.
I LOVE FORD always have & probably always will! Two of the main reasons just 2 of them I bought my Gt.The complete list would be way too long!
1-FORD did not take my tax money to bail their asses out!
2-My first car way back when was a 1974 Ford Maverick with the 302 in it & I loved the hell out of that little car!
I've owned & driven many Fords in my life & I'm not some rookie who don't know how to shift or what it should feel like.
The car shifted like butter when new but has developed the previous stated issue.
Today took her out again & actually seemed a little better. One thing I did notice was when shifting from 2nd to 3rd if I kept the shifter as far left in the gate as possible the crunch noise was not as bad or not present at all!
Only seems to do it when upshifting.Just hoping the dealer can replicate the issue & will fix my BABY for me!

I read this thread and the the article with interest. I just saw another comment on this, last night, at Canadian Driver, on line. Seems they were quoting this article and also the thread on the "other" forum.
I have almost 9500 miles on my '11 GT/CS. The transmission only seems balky when cold ( and this is South Dakota), so I just double clutch her until she warms up. Negates the balky shifting. The more miles I have put on her, the easier she seems to shift, as the parts wear in. The majority of my local driving is Interstate, but I also take her up into the Black Hills, where one highway (The Pigtails) requires numerous shifts and the car rarely gets past 4th gear. In this environment, the transmission seems to come into its own. No missed shifts, chipping or balky changes.
I recently took a 1600 mile round trip to the Twin Cities, and driving at 75 for the entire trip (all interstate) I averaged 26.4 mpg and the transmission shifted without any balkiness or chipping. As I said the warmer it is the better it shifts.
Perhaps I am a little spoiled, since I remember when we called the tranmissions rock crushers because of the way they shifted
Oh, and I have the heated seats...at -25F you have to love them!

I'm going to give my dealer a shot at handling it properly first. They have been superior to this point & my BABY is about ready for her first oil change.Only 3,100 on her but it'll be a year 6/7/11.
I'll make the complaint & see what happens.Hope they don't give me the old can't replicate the issue nonsense.Or it's NORMAL.
If it's NORMAL & nothing serious ever happens to the tranny fine with me but something doesn't feel right anymore. If this is the case I'll make my apologies right now.
I'd feel like i was going over their heads & I want to try to keep a good relationship with them.Well unless or until they **** me off.
