Jalopnik Reports Transmission Issues
#21
ever since the 05 mustang came out. So many wanna be's have come into mustangs. Trying to gay them up with stuff like heated seats, back up cams, back sensors. Everyone on forums is a me too. One guy posts he cant turn the radio up high enough, 50 me too's post. so lame. im sick of it. These douches need to stop posting and go put some more stupid stickers on their cars.
Oh wait, it's called progress, and also you can't spell for ****. Please crawl back into your hole.

There was probably something wrong with the transmission in his car to begin with, but the dealer just kept making it worse.
And he is not alone on this. Not to mention that the exact same transmission has had similar serious problems in the Transit Connect (4 cylinder) and in a Land Rover model going back several years.
Jmatero is helping all Ford owners. The reason companies stone wall and rope-a-dope is that its cheaper than fixing the defective product. They don't even mind a bunch of lemon law returns if that's the extent of their costs. Publicizing real problems raises the cost of ignoring customers with those problems and makes it more likely they will fix them. And fixing them helps your resale values; taking a bunch back as lemons doesn't. When you go to sell, you don't want your car to be one of those model/years buyers shy away from because of known problems.

This is why I got the base GT. I didn't want power seats, leather, back up sensors, HID lights. I wanted base stuff. Less is better IMO.

I suspect he will lemon-law it. But he has also made it a cause and that is a good thing. It would be a mistake for anyone to assume that a company like Ford will always do the right thing on their own. Remember the Pinto and Crown Vic gas tanks? I'm not singling out Ford its just a fact of life that companies will leave customers hanging if its cheaper and they can get away with it.
FYI, Ford was involved almost from the start; this isn't on the dealer. And Ford replaced the transmission and pretty much everything attached to it other than the motor and the replacement was worse. They declined to put a 3rd one in saying that they tried that with another customer and the problem got worse. Oh, and FWIW, Ford also said in writing that they do not believe he has a lemon law case LoL.
And he is not alone on this. Not to mention that the exact same transmission has had similar serious problems in the Transit Connect (4 cylinder) and in a Land Rover model going back several years.

From what I have seen he has no intention of Lemon Lawing it. He has not even talked to a lawyer through all this (He even posted a leter from Ford stating that he could not Lemon it, LOL like it is Ford's choice). He sees himself as some kind of martyr for all M6 2011 Mustang owners. If he were to Lemon it, he would have no reason so keep posting stuff all over every forum and he would lose his "fame". He has even said stuff to the effect of 'if I lemon this I will be doing what Ford wants me to do'. This is his 15 minutes. Any sane person, including me, would have Lemoned it by now if their car had half the issues his had. Just my opinion, obvioulsy, but this is the only logical explaination as to why this guy continues to keep his car.
hey listen, i have worked at a dealer for over 10 years. im sure there is more to this story. to have gone through that amount of transmissions. is hard to believe. i wouldnt put it past this clown that he is doing it on purpose. beating the car. I know a lot of u think ford doesnt care. But i promise you they dont wany some big mouth posting this stuff.

I'm not going to flame anyone that has MT82 transmission problems!
Why? Because I now have an issue with mine!
The same story most others have 1st to 2nd to 3rd hard & crunching shifts.Hard into 2nd & making a odd crunch noise into 3rd.No skip shift light shifting at a reasonable 2,000 rpms.
Only 3,000 miles on her all stock no performance mods no trips to the track!
I'm calling this a REAL ISSUE!
I mean really 3,000 miles & transmission shifting problems already!Doesn't give me much confidence in the durability of this setup!
By the way my car is a 4/10/10 build.

maybe it doesnt shift like an escort or a jetta. every GT i have ever had, shifted rough. its a low end performance car. even if it cost 30k+. that has been out for a little over a year. Ever think that most of this is just a characteristic of this transmission? funny maybe 20 people post that have an issue. now everyone cant shift. get used to it, all mustangs suck to shift.

my 86 Gt grinded into 3rd. and my 2003 Gt did also, which was brand new. there was a TSB for fixing it, which replace some internal parts. still grinded when cold. Just drive the car and everyone stop worring about nothing.

That guys car is jacked!! Too bad! I hope this doesn't turn into a big issue with the 5.0s because the new GT/CS I drove at the dealership was a dream!

I like all the comfort items like Nav, Heated seats, and such and my Mustang is fully loaded with it. Had I known for sure that the Boss 302 was coming I would have waited. Don't misunderstand, I love my GT and very happy with it. The GT is getting too heavy. and perhaps the GT 500 as well. If the keep it up they are going to compete with the SHO. Give me a kick butt motor and drivetrain, brakes, and a decent stereo, slick body and I got the rest. Lets get back to the basics of what a Mustang is all about, what it was meant to be.
