It does look like it may make it's presence known, but not as a pony car. I can see it being a new Celica, but not a 'stang; and I could be wrong.

Anyway, the topic is the new interior and I like it.

Tiburon will carry on. It was considered a competitor to Mustang V6 w/in Ford.
True. A "Mustang guy" isn't the same as a "guy with a Mustang". I work w/a guy that swears his old '87 GT was the best car he ever owned. Now he drives an Accord (so much for loyalty).
Well, maybe his needs outgrew the Mustang and an Accord is better than a Fusion currently ( and cheaper to lease depending on where you live. ) But this is why Mustang needs to be more refined- if he gets the opportunity to consider a Mustang again because he loved his 87 so much, the new Mustang better be as refined as his Honda, otherwise, he impression of Mustang and all Fords will be tainted.

Maybe Hyundai isn't tageting the 'stang at all. Maybe they're looking to take sales from Nissan and Honda.
Well the Genesis Coupe is poor man's Infiniti G37. However, there will be inevitable comparisons to the 2010- they are the two cheapest rear drive cars with 300 HP. I believe it was Motor Trend or Car and Driver which ran the cover headline MUSTANG KILLER with the pic of the Genesis underneath it.

I have more concerns over Camaro/Challenger, and am amazed at how many people are ready to abandon the blue oval over them.
Camaro will be the biggest comparison, because it looks the newest. Challenger is a small sales volume and really appears to be a Chip Foose resto-mod w/ new crate motor than a new car.

Yes, back to topic. And this new 2010 interior, I agree with you, will be the best in the Mustang's competitors, including Genesis and Camaro.

Even though its off topic just to clarify a few things for you guys:

-The Genesis Coupe IS replacing the Tiburon
-It WILL NOT come with the 4.6L 375HP V8 that powers the sedan version

Carry on

Folks,

The Genesis is a 4 door luxury car. They are clearly after the Porshe, BMW, and Mercedes. With a V6 starting price tag of $31,000 I don't know how this thing will compete with a Mustang.

Not 100% true dude! Hyundai is calling the new coupe Genesis as well, as its the same platform.

I see where they talk about it in a SEMA show. But nothing else. Is it still some concept idea? I found it finally. Sorry. They show a lesser warranty.

Even though it may seem to be the new tiburon because it is going on a hiatus, this is not the replacement. Hyundai will come out with another cheap sporty FWD car in the future - and THAT will replace the tiburon.

Tiburon = sub-200hp sub-20k cheap sporty compact.. no current replacement
Genesis Coupe = decent hp RWD sub-35k sporty car.. first of its kind for Hyundai

The Genesis Coupe is competing in a completely new arena for Hyundai.. it's their version of a g35. Not a Sentra SE-R (similar class as tiburon)

But yeah.. new mustang interior looks great.

Wait. The steering wheel is an old one - not the "new" one shown in other photos!

The old steering wheel is on an interior without the aluminum dash. So I guess this is a pre-production test version of the base model.

Wow...2010 and still no automatic headlamps/daytime running lights...we've only been waiting...what? 45 years HAHA. Looks like dual zone climate control is finally present. On the other hand, I guess audiophiles will be pissed. It doesn't look like ford gave you any room to fit an aftermarket DIN radio or regular radio for that matter. Even if you got rid of the display, you still have the controls lying around. Tisk, tisk, tisk.

My opinion is that I'm glad that Ford didn't jump on the daytime running light bandwagon.

I actually think they are less safe than people make them out to be. On a bright sunny day, they diminish the effect of a turn signal. The effect that the orange light would normally have is shadowed by bright sunlight and headlights combined. At least once a week I see a car with DRL signaling to turn, but I wait a couple of extra seconds before pulling out into traffic just to verify that the turn signal really is on.

I just don't like how they look either.

A lot of new cars (liket he Charger) that have a feature that turns the inboard light off while the turn signal is on.

On a sidenote, DRL's have been mandatory in canada since I got my license, and not once have I ever had the problem of seeing if someone is signaling or not regardless of vehicle. I don't trust signals anyway...

The Charger feature is a decent idea.

Maybe I just have bad eyes

It really looks weird when you see it.
I had a charger follow me once (guy I worked with)
Thought...'Hrm..I should tell him his front headlight is out'
Then seeing it came back on when the turn signal was off... then it did it again (and I put 2+2 together )

The problem I have with DRLs is people who forget to turn their running lights on as it gets dark. The DRLs provide enough forward lighting that some folks don't realize they have no rear lights on, and are virtually invisible at dusk and beyond.

One answer for that would be to expand DRLs to include rear lights; another would be to require automatic running lights and not allow them to be turned off if the vehicle is running and in gear.

Just some thoughts...

DRL =

I never liked the looks of them. They should be a dealer option, or be enabled/disabled via a tuner.
