Overall, I agree that the S550 interior is an improvement....more business-like as it should be on a flagship performance car.

I'm not crazy about the seat choices so far though. As much as I love a red interior for instance, the 2015 style doesn't push my buttons like the 401A Brick Red/Cashmere does on the S197.

My 2014 GT Prem 'vert has the 401A Black/Cashmere and it pops. It's usually the first compliment when someone sees my Mustang for the first time, and it's my favorite part of the interior.

The S550 has really grown on me, and I'm anxious to see a 'vert in person this Spring. Something tells me that a Triple Yellow ragtop just might be the hot ticket. The 25th Anniversary package turns me off though....too much $$$ for basically just nice wheels and uneccessary grille bling that detracts from it's looks. I'd put that money into a set of 19" or 20'' rubber and a/m wheels anyway.

Let's see what 2016 brings both personally and from Ford in the way of deals and incentives. In the meantime, I'm digging my 2014 to death.

Shhhh, stop saying that. The truth is getting in the way of some of these people's agendas.

Agree on the 401A interiors. I have Black w/ blue in mine, and I get tons of compliments. Love the door inserts with the polished running ponies too, very classy touch.

I'm the opposite on the S550 as a whole though. A year ago at this time I was not a Mustang owner. At the unveiling in December, I was all over it. I wanted one badly, but was going to wait for model year 2 for obvious reasons. But the more I looked at it, the more I found things I didn't like, and those things sort of coalesced into an overall not-very-attractive car to me. When the 2010 came out is when I got into "have to have one" mode with the Mustang. I've had the means to do it for a couple years now, but with all the talk of the upcoming IRS and everything I waited. But as the S197 got closer to the end, I realized I did NOT like the S550's styling, and if I wanted to get the car I really DESIRED, I needed to pull the trigger.

That said, the GT350, in very subtle ways, fixed everything on the styling front. I'm not sure I can specifically put my finger on each detail, but the revised aero and sheet metal, the stance, I just love that car. I can't afford it. But I love it. I have it on my computer desktop, and I've been loving it more and more the longer I look at it.

I'm with you on the GT350 but my wallet isn't as powerful as my lust.

I'll bet your 401A Black/Blue looks great in a black Mustang. I desperately wanted the 401A Brick Red/Cashmere in a black, silver, or white convertible, but I got mine off the floor when 2014's could no longer be ordered. I located several within 500 miles of my dealer, but they either had automatics, or were loaded with packages I didn't want, wouldn't use, and didn't want to pay for. I "settled" for Black with the 401A. No complaints....I love the car.

I did consider having an upholstery shop replace the Cashmere seat stripes with red ones though. Still food for thought.

I think I'm the only one who thinks the interior in the new cars is ok. The thing I like most is the cup holders being moved. Other than that I'm not getting it.

Idk about light years but it's a good step in the right direction. Look at the SRA in the 13-14 5.0's. They put the M3 in its place on the circuit. The ************ M3! The benchmark of sport cars. Of course I'm not doubting the S550 (I'd love one) but time will tell how much of an animal it really is

So I'm just not sure how you can use the term light years when it's in fact slower and handles just about the same.

Granted the interior is super nice. And I do like the looks a lot. The 15 is just not the performer we all thought it'd be.

I desperately wanted the 401A Brick Red/Cashmere in a black, silver, or white convertible...

A red interior was one of the "must haves" on my order sheet, and is one of the things that gets the most attention on my Mustang (usually right after the Boss style hockey stripes and right before the "hey, the roof is entirely glass").

I love the blue. The one thing I don't get, is that there blue inserts and stitching everywhere, except the shifter boot. Why the oversight? Still haven't found one aftermarket, and thinking of getting an upholstery shop either make one or restitch mine. For me though, it was between the 401A with blue or 400A with saddle. In the end I wasn't sure how the saddle interior would wear over time, since I plan to keep the car a good long time, so went the "safer" route. I've seen a few black/saddle cars on here and they do look spectacular, they almost have a Euro flavor to them. But I'm definitely happy with my choices, in retrospect I don't think I'd do it differently.

Also in retrospect, had I waited to order an S550 instead, I think I would have ended up wishing I'd got the S197 instead. I don't know if I've ever made a major purchase with absolutely ZERO regrets, so my Mustang is the first. I love my car. Love. It.

I know its being picky, but the 2015 will show its stuff next to FIFTY years of the others... Yes, the point I'm making is- regardless how Ford wants to do the math- the 2014 (not the 2015) is the 50th anniversary edition of the Mustang.

100% agree that there is a Mustang for everyone. I even like some of the Mustang IIs out there...
+1. Mine was built in May and delivered in June. Despite the marketing dept. It's a 50th.

It seems possible to me that whoever at Ford is responsible for this may have been a Electrical/Computer Engineer. We start counting at 0 instead of 1

Have you got a pic pf the interior? I've seen every possible S197 interior choice except a 401A Black/Grabber Blue.

I sometimes wonder why Ford didn't do a 401A in light grey with a black or Cashmere stripe, or black with a red stripe.

Here is a not so great pic of my Black/Grabber blue 401a interior. You cant really see it here but the stitching is grabber blue as well.

Thanks....the 401A w/GB looks great. It's amazing how something as simple as a stripe and some colored stitching can make such a difference on how an interior looks.

Not the only one at all. I just don't get the praise, either. I certainly wouldn't trade the interior in my '14 GT/CS for anything in the '15s. The only detail I like on the '15s are the wheels (beautiful!), and that's because the wheels on mine are its weak feature. Gotta upgrade in a year or so.

FlyBy, have you considered white rims with white highlights, i.e. white side stripe and white side mirror covers? Just food for thought.

I do like the interior more than the previous. But, I also lived in an '09 GT for 5 years and was admittedly a "little" jealous when the newer style interiors came out in 10+.

I also think, much like the exterior styling, is more evolution than revolution. Some of the materials are nicer and it looks a little less retro. It's a definite upgrade material wise (in most trims), but I wouldn't try and argue it is 100% better. Maybe 40-50% And, admittedly the Premium Interior with Premier Trim in the 15's is a touch above as well.

Styling is obviously going to be subjective and is going to be a personal opinion. I happen to like both, but prefer the 2015.

I guess I like the cleaner "plain" look of the interior in the '14 over the '15. I think the evolution in the new car is slowly staring to evolve into that import busy look which is not my style. Another reason I'm glad I jumped on a '14. I will say the leather looks better in the new car but again I haven't sat in one yet.

I guess that's it, the earlier retro styling immediately makes me feel something, and the new interior is just a posh interior.
