Has anybody else had to wait 6 months for their Shelby GT500 build?

I was really hoping to be able to spend some time enjoying my new ride before the ancient aliens return on 12,21,2012 and turn us all into mindless, zombie slaves!
I talked to the dealer and asked about the items Deysha mentioned. I got pretty much the answer I was expecting.

He said that the priority assigned to my order was the "best possible" but wouldn't tell me anything more specific. The allocation was for 3rd quarter, which according to him, is now. He has contacted his Ford rep and asked him to proceed with this build.

Regarding when the build date & delivery will be, he told me exactly what I knew he would. "They are scheduled first come. I don't have any control over the build schedule / delivery date, nor did I make any promise about delivery date." This is not entirely true, he did not write a delivery date on the order form but he did verbally tell us the approximate expected build date / delivery date. In Illinois, a verbal contract is just as binding as a written contract.

I would respect him more if he had left out the comment about the "promise" and just said that the build is out of his control and apologize if the wait is longer than the time frame that we discussed. THAT would have made him a REAL standup guy.

Regardless, he's been significantly better to deal with than dealer "A" I mentioned before. I'll continue to give him the benefit of doubt until he proves that he is no better than dealer "A".

That all depends on if they are green Martians.

What is the drop dead date for making changes to your order and what can be changed?

I'm pretty sure once your car has been assigned a VIN number no changes can be made. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I was able to change the color of my car from black to red candy after my VIN was assigned. The change has to be approved by the plant and if they approve it you will get an updated DORA.

The best time is before it schedules. Your dealer can still submit a change after it receives a VIN, but all changes must be approved first.

It’s usually pretty accurate, Gniac. However, all dates are subject to change.
