The 2013 Mustang is officially here!
This will drive me nuts!
One might presume that changes could happen to the finish when production starts. I hope that someone working on these cars noticed this and would respond accordingly.

Ford, if you're reading this, please hire someone to properly detail your cars before auto shows. Washing it with a Brillo pad results in that awful looking rear piece.
That said, I'm not too worried about the finish on those. If you actually take proper washing steps, it should be as durable as the finish on your paint. With it being black, you're always going to notice it a bit more.

Agreed but with the rear deck lid panel being one of the dirtiest parts of the car I imagine it will get tarnished very quickly. It's even worse when it contrasts against body color paint. Flat black would look much better IMO. Let's just see what ford does between now and production. My fingers are crossed
Wait until you see one on a new car in person and see how quickly it gets marred up. I don't think it's going to be as bad as you think.
re: deck lid tail lamp finish.
At an auto show, at least the chicago auto show they have these guys that come around who have absolutely no clue and no care for paint wipe off finger prints and what not. Seeing what some of them do makes me cringe. That damage could easily happen from that.
As to the plastic tail lamp cover, same thing but with one additional possibility. It's not a real part, but a rapid prototype.
These aren't brand new cars, they are pilot run cars at best. They might even be earlier builds than that. There's a good possibility that isn't even out of a production mold and is a completely different material. One of the things I notice is that I don't see the usual US DOT tail lamp markings or the Ford markings.

For reference, back when the 2001 Bullitt was preparing for production, the final call on the "scoopless side scoop" was made within a 3 week period before the first one rolled off the line. This is information given to me by someone at Ford who worked on that car. Luckily that car got that piece because it was so important to the character of the vehicle.
So, here's to hoping that a resolution is made available to address that, whatever it might be (durable finish, color change).

money
I wish the money they spent on that spoiler went onto making the wheels lighter. What will the new Front end look like with the 2011 CS/Boss lower?
Will the 500 lower fit? That white CS with the glass roof sure looked sleek. Now i can't wait for the order sheet.

Has anyone taken (or seen) a picture of the rear brakes on the 500?
