first hello, i joined here because it seems like a good crew and has great coverage of the 2010 mustang. i am a fox owner and have shared my project over in the fox thread. however i have been a mustang guy for some time and i have been through my share of beaters and lookers, both with a little giddy up.

this design has had me going back and forth but i find myself addicted to finding the next picture of it..lol.. i think ford is doing a decent reskin and i am amazed at the amount of people on the web that are moaning and groaning saying they expected more. i mean come on, the fox stayed relatively the same with only a few design changes from 79-93.

alot of people were expecting some mythical recreation of a platform that was just changed!?!? all in all i am looking at getting a gt500, i am still waiting to see more of the car unveiled before i decide which one i want to get, 07-09 or the redesign, also i am curious about the power plant but i highly doubt that it will get a huge power bump even in 2011, nobody wants to pay veryon insurance rates on a mustang..lol.. all in all the car has some decent changes and i think ford will hit another home run for the mustang crowd....... now i await the fox body retro design and not the mustang II...ha! i am a memebr of svtp so we have our share of rumors and people "in the know" but i hope to learn some things from this site as well, seems to be some possible insiders here too.

Welcome James! I am pretty new here too, but I also agree with you about this site and all the info we are getting from it. I cant wait for Wednesday, so I can see the new pic.
I talked recently with someone at Ford who does some technical work.(Dont want to out him though) I asked him if he could tell me what the powertrain was going to be and of course he said no, but when I asked him if it was going to be carryover he said NO!!!!

Heck YEAH if that's true then I won't wait for 2011! I think Ford may have originally planned carryover powertrains until 2011, but new competition has influenced them otherwise. If this is true 2010 here I come!

 

I doubt its the 5.0
but it'll probably be a tuned 3v 4.6

(I doubt they would put the new 6 in the 2010 if the old V8 is staying)

 

On the 8, yeah its likely a max tune 4.6. Bullit numbers at the low end, mid 300s at the high.

The V6 I think could easily be the new plant. The engine's ready and if the 6 is around 275 its still far enough below 315+ to make a difference for the 8. The issue comes down to production capacity. They updated the old 3.0 in the Escape rather than adopt the 3.5 because they simply couldn't build enough fast enough to go around. If they're making enough 3.7s for Linc AND Mustang, I think they go ahead and launch with it.

 

Yeah you're right Boomer, I'm just hoping against hope for the 5.0 in 2010. But wouldn't it be funny if they updated the V6 and not the V8 lol?
