That depends on power and weight. If the new 5.0 is pushing 400 HP, and it doesn't weigh too much compared to the current S197, it's entirely possible.

I gotta ask? Where did you get that number from? Only number so far has been for the RS model. Even Autoblog, when they posted all the pics of the SS didn't have the weight numbers.

It's in here, scroll down to "Dimensions- Exterior".

I stand corrected, the curb weight for the MT-equipped Camaro SS is 3860 pounds. It's still a featherweight compared to the Challenger SRT8, though...

How is that depressing? The Camaro is using a Corvette motor for its V8. That's pretty awesome.

Now, imagine a Camaro with the supercharged V8 from the Cadillac CTS-V, pushing 550 HP, with Yenko badging, taking on the GT500.

The first comment there says it all. Don't forget that the CA in CAFE means "corporate average"...

I can imagine the GT500 still destroying it (if they use all the weapons they have)

According to GM media online, the official curb weight numbers confirm 3860 lbs. for the MT-equipped SS model, and 3913 lbs. for the AT-equipped SS.

That being said, the MT-equipped SS weighs exactly 270 lbs. lighter than the Challenger SRT8.

At 270 lbs. lighter than the SRT8 Challenger, the MT-equipped Camaro SS, may be a featherweight. However on the other hand, the Camaro SS, is a pig compared to the current Mustang GT. weighing approx 381 lbs. more.

How do you figure the GT500 would lose ? compare 500 HP for the GT500 vs. the Camaro SS at 422 HP. Being that the GT500 has both a weight advantage, and 78 more HP. The Camaro SS, doesn't stand a chance against the GT500 !

At 270 lbs. less than the SRT8 Challenger. I know where my money's going too

Being as the SS weighs 3860 lbs. and weighs approx 381 lbs. more than the current Mustang GT. I don't see how the 2011 Mustang GT could lose at 400 HP, as the SS will still weigh more, and only has a 22 HP advantage at 422 HP !

Yeah, that teaser pic is REALLY nice. The smoothed wheel arches, the more aggressive profile of the nose, and most of all the blacked out grill and turn signal trim. Looks really 1970.
