Ah. I see your intent. Big gauges are white to stand out and draw attention, middle ones are black to blend in and look like part of the dash. Lets be honest, short of something going wrong most of the time you care about MPH and RPM more than the rest.

The problem with the current interior is not the design or style - which look great - it's the plastics choice. They're the absolute cheapest in the plastics industry: the same as a fishing tackle box or a Craftsman toolkit box. This also makes it prone to being easily scratched, since it has no "give". If you're careful, it stands up fairly well. But a watch or ring or bracelet or brass jacket button can easily lead to surface abrasions.

the 06 civic i had before the mustang had soft, good looking plastics and the dang things scratched when you looked at them the wrong way. the doors were scuffed to h--l and im the kinda guy thats careful with his car. that said, my mustang doors still look new and i dont have to tip toe in and out of the car trying not to make a new scuff... some pieces by the radio i can see as scuffing easier but the plastics on the doors and most the interior... i have to say these are much more scratch/scuff proof than the softer better looking plastics in the honda

Well, the two big things that we are missing at this point are the "official" Nav system/SYNC/HVAC control panel and a "de-zebra"ed exterior. Any other information we get from here to the reveal is gravy!

That's always been my biggest grip about the S197. It's interior is horribly lacking in the quality and appearance factor. So many different colors of "black & gray" with hard plastics that resemble tackle boxes like stated before. It was my biggest apprehension to purchasing one instead of my truck I've got now. I'm glad I waited. I'll most definitely be buying the refreshed and revised edition. It's good to see Ford bringing the Mustang into more common quality and comfort stereotypes.

New Photo is Lame
If you thought they were teasing last week, this week is a really lame photo!!! It came on a day early....but it really on shows us that they kept the 5 speed, instead of going with a 6 speed transmission. I guess the Camaro V6 will be blowing away the Mustang V6! I was kind of hoping they would surprise us with a 3.5 with a 6 Speed.

Really. After all these years… is a six-speed REALLY that big of a deal?
I can understand it being important to some, but as a make-or-break feature? I don't get it.

I agree with Boomer. I don't understand the 6 speed vs. 5 speed problem, either. I rarely use more than 4 of the 5 gears, now (start in 2nd, most of the time) and often only 3 (2, 3, 5 or 2, 4, 5 depending on traffic & circumstances). The only need I see for a 'Stang to have a 6-speed manual is the "Me too" attitude.
Now in an automatic, I can see it. The more gears, the shorter the shifts = improved CAFE. But in a manual, especially with a torquey V8, it's really overkill. Fun, perhaps, for going through the gears, but certainly not necessary. Nor even particularly desirable.
