Question to those that have this unit. Once the new unit is in place, does the input jack inside the center console still work? Aux input. I have my XM Radio that I plug in there and works great with the factory. I probably would install the satelite radio with the D3 but just checking to see if the input jack works.
Hey Joe, not a problem at all man. Heck, if you purchase this before the open house that Nancy is holding (the 16th), I can install it there. If you do go with the sat receiver for this unit, I would highly advise you to install the antenna on the back parcel shelf where the window meets. This way, you don't have to stick it to the body.

Oh, and about the aux input. I noticed on the front of the unit, there is a plug. I'm assuming thats their version of the Ford AUX plug in the console.

I may just go with the adding the xm reciever. It looks rather easy and I already have the XM subscription. Will just transfer it to the new reciever. This way I can play the XM through the reciever, looks real easy to install. The antenna I have now is on the back panel now, it has been there since I had the car. The XM I have now is plugged in at the center console.

Hopefully I will get this and install it before the Open House. Depending upon the weather of course. Also may have my new side stripes by then too. LOL Hope so anyway!

Hey if you don't bring it with you. I'll be happy to install it.

BTW, did you see the post on BADMC about the toy run on 12/9? Just checking to see if your interested in joining us?

I should be good for that ride. Guess I will have to go shopping, but I won't mind since it is for a good cause.

Well, I pulled the trigger and got the "upgraded" Z2, with BlueTooth, Camera, accessories.... at an excellent price I might add ..
$1199 for the Z2, .. http://www.cartronixplus.com/
and they have the D3 for only $585!

I liked the idea of a 7" screen, plus the fact that the GPS data is on a hard drive, song storage, ..etc. etc ...

Hey guys I just purchased my Pioneer AVIC-d3 yesterday from Amazon.com got a great deal! Not sure if it includes everything needed to install it. I guess my question is what all am I going to need to install this myself? Not sure if it comes with the bracket? Wireing harness? etc.. Do I splice into the existing shaker 500 system? Are there any instructions that someone has put together to do this install? any tips? Sorry I have a lot of questions...hehe excited

Hey Jarrod, I posted in the other D3 thread, but I copied my reply, to post in here as well:
"Jarrod, the instructions are on Crutchfields website. Just look up the unit, then on the left side, under the "recommended accessories" there is a link to "whats in the box". When you click on that, a link to the PDF file will appear. Before you print it, be aware, its 213 pages!! I looked at it this weekend at work, and only printed up the 8 pages that have the diagrams for each wire."

BTW, I'm ordring it Monday. Also, it went down another $50 to $899 and you still get the free backup camera!! GREAT DEAL!!

No sweat bud! Glad to help. As to page numbers, I believe it was pages-177-186, in the installation section of the manual. These pages show a diagram of where each wire goes to and what it connects to and using which tools/connectors. As to those connectors, Tom posted in this thread or the other thread a set to purchase. You can get that set from any electronics store (crimp tool and plug connectors)

Hey Jarrod, and everyone, I just got off the phone with Crutchfield a few minutes ago, and placed my order tonight!!! Should have it by Friday at the latest (most likely Wednesday since they are in Virginia and I'm in SE PA. I am so excited to install the unit. Never did it before and its going to be fun. Only downer, no backup camera (out of stock but I will get them when they are back in stock). Once I get the unit, and I'm all done my install, I'll definitely have pics posted!

Jeff, you may or may not like the looks of the camera, just FYI. The camera's display looks great on the D3, but the overall style of camera is debatable. Not trying to burst any bubbles, just letting you know.

Here's a photo, not the best quality but you'll get the idea.

Thanks for the pic Tom. Actually, right now, there are out of back-up cameras and they have one on backorder for me. When it arrives, I'll see if I want to keep it. With the driving I do and parking at all the shows I take the car to, it wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks again dude. BTW, my D3 has already shipped.

You'll love it, I've had mine since February and I think it's one of the best mods I made on my pony.

I had one, but I have just ripped it out, went back to the dealer five times to get problems with the nav sorted out. The Nav kept redirecting itself and cutting out. Had a replacment just to last three weeks before going funky. Gone with a garman 350 and aint looking back. I would think twice before buying another Pioneer product

Try Avic411.com...might find things a little different. In the end looking at this site is what made me give up.

It's great when it works, I would recommend a bypass as it does go screwy you have to stop and pull the parking brake up to make any changes to the settings and this was a real PITA and dangerous!!!!

Exactly.... try www.avic411.com and you'll find that likely your problem was either an installation issue or operator error- few problems with the D3 overall.

Been there and have seen nothing but happy D3 owners...sorry that your experience wasnt with the 95% that havent had an issue. Good luck though with your future headunit purchase..hopefully it goes better than this one.
