Thanks VegasJay (and all for the compliments).
Did you have any issues with the drivers side tire sticking out more than the passenger side? I have seen several threads about that, but I think that all of them were GT owners. My V6 was within 1/8" side to side. No adjustable panhard bar required. That money can go for other mods

While we wait for pics of this long awaited 9"&10" staggered set. I have a question for you guys. Does having the rims and tires setup like that make the car handle/turn any worse? I have never had anything but the same size on the front and back. Actually I always had FWD cars with the biggest tire being a 235.....boy I cant wait

I just got an e-mail from Bob at mustangtuning.com and the 18x10's are now available. They are sold in a set of 4... with 2 18x9's and 2 18x10's. This looks like a sweet setup. Someone please order a set so I can see them installed.

but i think it is balderdash. skinny tires are what hinders handling in my book. look at all the hardcore sports cars. don't the majority of them have larger than front, rear tires? ferrari, porsche 911, corvette, nsx, lanbos, lotus esprit, mclaren, 350Z, saleen s7, ford GT, etc. what do the guys who make them know? F-1 cars, the epitome of road car handling, have different tire sizes F/R. if racers go with staggered sizes, i think it should indicate that it's a pretty good setup.
i think you'll be fine staggering your tire/rims. besides mines handles like a dream in stop & go traffic which i encounter mostly. :-P
think of it this way, more tire on the ground= more traction. that's a good thing. when accelerating, cornering, & braking, more traction is good.
in rain though, a narrower tire is beneficial due to its tendency to "hydroplane" less than a wider tire.
congrats on your first mustang. may there be many more in your future. "05 mustang- let the fun begin."

technically most ppl say a car with the same size tires all the way around will handle better. although a bigger tire is warranted for drag racing. that's the comon belief and rule i've heard.

Thats pretty much my thoughts on it too...but I wanted to ask people who actualy have it
Not only is it my first stang...but its my first domestic car...and I have had 7 cars. I always loved the sound of a stang but never could like the look. The 05 on the other hand has converted me!!

One thing to point out... if you get different width wheels (whether the tires are the same size or not) you still can't rotate. Can't go around with 18x10's on the front and 18x9's on the back, can you? Same goes with getting the same width wheels but with a deeper "lip" in the rear. So, if you are going to get different wheels, you might as well get wider tires in the rear. For me, I'll have to go with the 18x9's with 255 tires on all 4 wheels. 255's are the best all-around tire I think. They get more traction than the stock 235's, but won't hydroplane as much as the 275's or 285's. It rains a LOT down here near New Orleans.
