Holder what part of half the performance dont you understand lets do the comparison GTo you said 0-60 in like 4.8 now the shelby about 4.1 maybe lower now lets see GTO quarter mile in the 13s now the shelby in the low 12s or high 11s lets see here doesnt take a rocket scientists to figure this one out looks like half the perfomance to me. And he is the one who saying his GTO will be able to keep up with the Shelby it isnt going to happen sorry buddy.

That has to be the funniest thing I have ever read.Okay, lets go back to basic math. Half of 10 is 5. Half of 6 is 3. Now I know it gets a little more complicated with decimals but try to follow me, half of 4.8 is 2.4. Half of 13 is 6.5. If you don't believe me get a calculator. To take half of something, simply divide by two. It's not a difficult concept. You're right, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out, it takes a 3rd grader.

How can it be true when neither the Charger SRT8 nor the GTO have been tested against the GT500? It's nothing but magazine racing on your part.
I have a question for you: why are you still here? Whenever I buy a new car, I go find an online forum of other owners to discuss my new car. I don't hang around another forum just to argue about why I think my car is better. Nothing personal against you, I'm just curious as to your reasons for staying here.

holderca1 it doesnt matter the point is the GT500 will out perform the GTO and any other car out there basically that is in peoples price range. And the only car that might be in peoples price range is the Z06 and that wont outperform the GT500 by much.

Just looking at the numbers IS magazine racing. Until they are pitted against each other on the track, it means nothing. Also, you're only looking at the HP numbers anyway. The SRT8 has 425HP but also weighs in at well over 4,000LBS and is automatic only. There are more things to consider than just HP numbers.

Yes, I know all that.... But since we dont have a production car yet, all we can do it look at the numbers.
I personally think Dodge eally messed up on the charger big time.
They kinda took a family car and mixed it with muscle. It reminds me of the Magnum.
Who wants a 4 door, 2 ton, auto Muscle car?
heck I would get that car in a heat beat if I was 40 and had a family.
However thet GTO weighs less than The Shelby GT 500 (And the GTO has IRS, which adds a little weight)
All I'm saying is the GTO could keep up with the GT 500 with a few mods.
Is it just me or does it seem like muscle cars are on the rise? Seems like there is more of a demand for them now than 5 yrs ago... What you think?
EDIT: Removed cursing

We don't know the weight of the GT500 yet, the production version hasn't been unveiled.

How did Dodge mess up the Charger? They made a 4 door sedan to replace the Intrepid. I think they did pretty good. Isn't that how muscle cars started anyway, take a normal car in the lineup and throw in a huge engine, sounds like Dodge is being pretty true to the past. Compare the Charger to its competitors and it looks Dodge will have a winner on it's hands. Besides, who wants a 2 door, 2 ton, muscle car that looks like a cavalier?

Dude you are so full of poot its coming out of your ears. If dodge wanted to make a replacement for the Intrepid they should not of called it the Charger.
Do you even know what a charger is?
My Dad has a 70' 440ci Charger and that thing is a muscle car!
Never before was there a 4 door Charger,
The Charger was Always availiable in manual.
You would think that Dodge would want to "replicate" the old Charger.
The Intrepid is a little POS car that looks almost identicle to a Stratus.
Both of these cars a meant for familes.
However they did make a Stratus R/T and boy is that thing a JOKE!
Why would you take a muscle car and make it into a family car?
Its just another magnum.
The charger i agree was a mistake as well. I would rather have a magnum than the charger, 4 doors plus more cargo room.
All these new cars are starting to depress me. I raced an 06 eclipse (4cyl) and killed it. Im hopin to get a chance against the v6 soon.

Does anyone know where the TMS Lost and Found Forum is?

I personally wouldn't buy a four-door, but that is just my personal decision. They can certainly be fast. I just think coupes look sportier. Do you all think there would be a market for what many would consider a "real" muscle car, i.e. the full size, two-door, huge engine? Clearly all of the original muscle cars were two-doors (GTO, 442, Chevelle, GS, Cuda, Charger, etc.). Would there be a market for big coupes in that mold these days?

Yes, I know what a Charger is, it's a 4-door sedan made by Dodge. According to your opinion, I guess a M5 is a joke too, it has 4 doors. I hate to break it to you, a car can be fast and have 4 doors, no rules against it. This isn't the 60's or 70's anymore. I can pretty much guarantee that Dodge will sell more Chargers than GTOs. I agree with your interpretation of the Intrepid, that's why I think it's a brilliant move what Dodge did with the replacement. The Dodge Charger SRT8 will definietly be a muscle car.

Well the 05' mustang was a big hit.... And that was a play on the retro 60' Stangs.
I say dodge would have been smart to make a kinda retro yet modern car like the Mustang.
I would have loved to see that car resemble a 70' Charger!
The 05' Mustang actually resembles a 60's Stang.
An 06' Charger looks NOTHING like a 70's Charger!
I'm sure there will people that buy the car.... but I believe It would have been much more successful if they made it more "sporty".
It could have been just like the mustang.... have 3 different models/classes, 1 for every price range
I think Dodge really blew it this time!
