Will the Shelby be available to the Public?
Got me there, and im man enough to admit i made a typo
OH NO! let the flogging begin....
By the way, good luck with that "bypassing the swear filter" there, mods are going to love that.
HP/liter is what you use to compare engineering feats..
You are claiming that the GTO is an incredible car when it is running an extremly high compression ratio, and putting out only 1.5 more hp per liter than the base mustang gt which doesnt even run a 9:1 ratio.

Where in my posts did i say it was possible to get one under msrp?
When the GTO came out it was 3k markup at least.
If you are going to compare things, compare things.
GTO BASE
to
SHELBY BASE
none of this markup bs, under msrp bs, etc.
You are lookin at a 7k price difference MAX.

BS (means Bull Poo incase you were wondering)
There is no way you will EVER get a Shelby GT 500 under MSRP.
We are talking real world costs here!
Lost At the Ford GT Supercar for ex. (<means example) it still has massive dealer mark-ups.
Everyone wants a Shelby GT 500 (A lot of collectors want it just b/c of the name) and dealers know that!
Mark-up will be a factor and it will sell at MSRP and it will have a gas guzlers tax.
Face it. I paid 32K out the door, done deal.
You know you will paying high 40's.
EDIT: Bypassing language filters.
so we are talkin real world now? oh ok, might want to let yourself in on that information.
In that case i think i will go out and buy a stage 3 srt4 for less than what you paid for your gto, and walk you through the quarter mile, handling, and braking departments, with a 4 cylinder.

Stock to stock? i beat them by 2-3 seconds at the quarter mile.
And if someone beats me in their riced out civic that they did a lot of work to, more power to them. Have nothing against that.

So i take it your car is 100% BASE.
The V6 stang is priced at $19,770.
That means for 20K you got the most BASIC model avail?
Cmon I know you had to upgrade somin!
==Ouch... Looks like the GTO wins the price battle.==
Not really, that battle is measured in profitability to the manufacturer and value to the consumer. Pontiac can't hardly give away GTOs right now, so they're not making much (if any) profit on them. Meanwhile people are already lining up to buy the Shelby and it's not even in production yet! Profit will be through the roof for Ford just like it is on the current Mustangs. So what about value to the consumer, the GTO is cheaper than the Shelby so it's a better value, right? How much do you think a GTO will bring on resale when it's 5 years old, and how much will a 5 year old Shelby go for? We all know the answer, advantage Ford. GTO loses the price battle on all fronts.
Dave, you're getting drawn in by someone that is mad at life because he got a car he didn't really want. Let him have his little rant, he's got plenty of rope to hang himself with. He certainly isn't winning any converts here.

But when i bought my car it was before the price increase and base was 18.995. And yes mine has nothing except the aluminum panels on the inside, dealer added. and an alarm at no charge.

Yah its hard to win in a Mustang forum....
How do u figure a Shelby will have better resale in 5 yrs?
Honestly!
You are saying out right you get less for your money b/c Ford is making more Profit per car.
It may be worth it to you to fork out that money to Mr. Henry and your local dealer....
But in 5 yrs the deamnd wont be anything what it was b4.
That dealer mark-up will all be lost!
Now 50-yrs down the road... who knows.
Both are cars are in limited production.
Guess we will just have to wait and see
