We can't make this shifter work without that piece(s). Unfortunately I can't give you guys anymore info until we have reverse engineered this thing and sent out to be built.
What about using the OEM solenoid from the OEM shifter thats in the car?

Yes why does it matter what they used to use? If mine dies for whatever reason ford will replace it with what they are using now not something obsolete that they cant get anymore

I don't know anything about the B&M (mostly because I don't care for it so I haven't investigated) but the TCI is now showing up on a couple of web sites. RPM Outlet has had it listed for at least a month, and just noticed this week that Jegs has it available to be added to a wish list (and a price)

I called Jegs and they say the TCI should be shipping very soon.

I too have been waiting for a long time. TCI has a built trans and I already have there 3000 stall convertor in. Just waiting for the shifter guys. I have also seen the B&M just no delivery info but as I see here they are no where near ready to deploy it.

Thats because TCI started advertising it wayyyy before they actually had it avail and then realized they had the same issues we are dealing with!. Ford changed the solenoids during the production runs. the shifter and solendoid are integrated together. You cannot just install a shifter and the solenoid thats in the car will work.

Ford will introduce its new generation Mustang before this mod has a chance to take its first baby steps. Sad.

well you might be right about that one. But at least there are a good 4 years of the same production run/consoles etc.

B&M has always had good products, especially for automatics, so although I wish they'd get a move on, I'll still be here. Unless I've get old and died before it hits the market. Hm, come to think of it, I've already got the old part covered...

Might want to get a move on guys!

I kinda think the rev limiter would prevent that from occurring...

Unless, of course, you have a tuner that has programed the ECU to removed the rev limiter.

This shifter will do NOTHING. It will perform just like the stock shifter. Just with ratchet action and look cool. The transmission will still be controlled by the ecu so you shouldnt be able to damage it.

Subzero,
I'm pretty sure that if I took my car into the dealership for a shifter problem and they decided that the only way to fix it was to replace the complete shifter, they would just order one from Ford and put it in using the solenoid that came with the new one no matter what came in my car. BTW, I do work at AAI and have seen the shifters installed. Also, why is the solenoid even needed, it just locks out the shifter until the brake pedal is depressed? Why can't a Quicksilver or Hammer shifter be used with minor mods?

The solenoid does lock out the shifter and keeps it from moving out of park. This particular solenoid is specific to ford and they have made 2 running changes to it since the car came out in 05. Our other previous shifters will not adapt to this newer application. If we don't have the solonoid , not only is it illegal, dangerous and the like ...it would not pass any NMRA or other sanctioned racing venues if it were used. Guys out back are looking at another possible solution now and I'm waiting to hear the results of those tests.

Is there any possible way you guys can work on another version that just focuses on the looks instead of the ratchet action feature for a cheaper sales price?
