The GT Performance Timeslip Thread
It seems every car I've owned and raced over the years likes different psi in the drag radials or slicks. My '03 Mach 1 on the same exact BFG d/r's worked best with something closer to 20 psi. My '68 Pontiac GTO liked 10-12 psi, but that was with true slicks. I raced a '95 Dodge Dakota for a couple years that liked less than 20 psi (super lightweight in the rear) on d/r's. So, everytime I buy a new toy, it seems I spend a few days at the track dialing in the right psi for a consistent launch.
Could have somthing to do with the altitude in different areas of the country
As I have raced for 25 years at the same track, that doesn't explain my situation. However, you could be on to something, as weather (density altitude) could affect things on different race days even at the same track.
I know the tire pressure at Tulsa depends alot on the weather. We get the whole spectrum here. Late fall is the best time for racing and the pressure seems to change a bit between the spring summer and fall. When it's real hot and muggy a bit more pressure seems to work well. When it's cooler less pressure seems to do the trick.
Turned this at FAMOSO last month. New best of a 10.770 @ 125.82 with a 6.84 1/8th mile and a 1.490 60' time. Here is the video, its the second pass: http://videos.streetfire.net/video/c...ea0023600d.htm

I can't get out of the 14's, well I did one time with a 13.9. I can't figure it out. I have 5sp manual tranny,JLT II CAI, 91 performance tune, offroad prochamber, stock wheels and tires 45psi in the front, tried 25psi in the rear still spun like crazy tried 20psi no difference. Low to mid 14's at 101mph is the best I can muster. I've tried leaving at 2500rpm's of course spun the tires, tried from idle spun the tires, speed shifting into 2nd spins them like crazy so I have to granny shift. What is everyone else doing to have a stock 13sec car?
Rakkassan34-
What are your 60ft times? 2500rpm is probably too soft. I usually hold it around 3500rpm and ride the clutch out of the hole for the first 60ft with very little wheel spin. Don't try and bog it like with a 5.0L - these cars are a little soft on torque at the bottom end and a lot heavier. I shift mine at 6500-6700rpm with the rev limiter bumped from my tune.
Another thin to consider is elevation (where are you racing? What state?) and weather. My car ran .30 of a second faster in cool October air than it did the heat of June.
You should be able to hit low 13's with your mods. My best is a 13.43, spinning through 2nd gear with just a tune and a JLT II. That's with 3.31's and 18" rims. You just need to practice getting out of gate I think.
