I removed the no-tune insert from my C&L cai and loaded (for the 1st time) my 93 octane tune from Brenspeed.

I did this last Weekend and drove it a little bit afterwards.

I noticed the increased RPM limits and quicker throttle response.

I went back to the track tonight and really improved on my times.

Last week My 1/4 time was 14.39 @ 99.51 and 60ft time was 2.398

This week the times were 13.88 1/4 @ 101.10 w/ 2.26 60 ft

and another pass w/ 14.05 1/4 @ 105.73 w/ 2.4 60 ft.

I'm under 14 Sec so I 'm going to take it easy for a while.

I was spinning pretty good through 1st and 2nd and a little into 3rd

I need more traction and plenty more technique.

Anyway, it was fun!

later

......that would have been an interesting one to watch.

How are you launching? Honestly, it sounds like you're revving it to 5,000rpm and dropping the clutch.

Hold rpms at about 3500-4000rpm, and SLIP the clutch out of the hole, letting it all the way out before the 60ft mark (if you're on radials). I still have some room to work with, by I get 2.0X 60ft times doing that.

Good mph though. Remember to let it cool off 30-45minutes between runs, and inflate the fronts to 45psi.

What do you think my *car* is capable of time wise based on the info above?

And can you explain the higher 1/4 speed but lower time,

seeing as how my fastest time was 13.88 @101.

Thanks

The higher mph is because your tires spun and the car didn't move, therefore increasing the speed. Try to imagine a ghost car next to yours that didn't have the tires spinning. It would be that many tire turns ahead of your car because it didn't spin.
Basically, no spin will lower your times as well as the mph.

i think you could run a mid 13 second time. When mine had a 105mph trap, it was at 13.22

C&L Street CAI with no-tune insert

First of all, call Doug or Brenspeed, and have them send you a 93 octane tune. There is no reason NOT to have one at this point!

I almost wonder if your lowering kit is hurting your 60ft times. Anyway, with what you have right now and that mph, you should be able to run a 13.60-13.70. I ran a 13.69 100% stock, and there was a little more left in it.

With a Bamatune, kind of warm out, I ran a 13.53@105.xx. Didn't realize I needed to be shifting at 6500rpm. Probably could run a 13.30 with it now if it was cool.

Still breaking in the new motor and only running the KB at 14 psi for now. I will slowly bring it up over the next month or so.

Anway, ran a 6.94 at 99 1/8 mile at Irwindale and a expecting a low 10.80 this Friday in the 1/4. I have a built bottom end and KB.

I have now installed my 93 oct. tune from Brenspeed. Like I said I had the C & L CAI with the no tune insert which still gives it around 80% of the flow of the CAI without the insert.

So once I pulled the insert and loaded the tune the feeling wasn't as startling as going from stock to a CAi and tune.

I have noticed the increased throttle response and the higher revs after loading the tune.

>>>kind of warm out<<<

I live in Mississippi so the humidity is never below 100% .

You know how it is ......we all walk around with what looks to be baby oil on our face (AKA perspiration) because we don't have air conditioning or anything like that.

A la the screen adaption of John Grishams "A Time to Kill"

Point being that I guess the high heat and humidity don't positively affect 1/4 mile times?

10 sec DD

Drove my DD 140 miles to Famoso yesterday and it was 109º when the track opened at 6:00 pm. Changed tires, ran this....

Changed tires again and drove 140 miles home. A TRUE DD - no weight shaving at all.

Lifted the wheels on this heavy pig!

I normally 60' in the 1.47-1.49 range and this 60' was far from my best, but for some reason it pulled harder than usual and lifted the front tires on this 3,980 lbs. S197 beast of a car.

Ran a great 6.8 @ 100 mph. She's slowly getting dialed in. Love the look on the faces of the trailer guys when I put my street tires back on and drove home with the radio and a/c on...lol

Well done, Mark! It was great hanging out and racing with you guys last night! Looks like I need to get rid of this P.O.S. torque converter before I'll dip into the 6-sec zone.

new 1/8 mile time

Hey guys, Finally got out to play today at our local 1/8 mile track. We had a local POP's race (Pony on Pony)

Stormed out of the gate with an 8.76ET @ 82.10mph my 60foot time was 2.1559 (street tires) stock gears.

next runs after that were 8.85 and 8.87. 60 foot time both in the 2.18 range. Guess it's time to go out and get some tires and throw in some gears.
Not the best of conditions it was close to 85 here today on top of it.

I'm pretty happy with the times, knowing they can get better. and I ended up coming in 4th over all in the POPS race.
