The GT Performance Timeslip Thread
WOW...some of you guys have some great times. I made my very first run this weekend and my best 1/4 mile was 12.87 at 110 MPH. Considering the fact that I'm supercharged...that doesn't sound too impressive to me. It looks like some of the mildly modified guys are doing as well or better. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, but I think I should be in the lower 12's instead of the upper 12's. 11's and certainly the 10's seem way out of reach for me. What are you guys doing? Or better yet what am I doing wrong? I know I have an automatic...but that shouldn't be a problem...should it?
I guess you would be the right guy to talk about automatics and 1/4 mile times. I'm at work right now, so I'll have to give you the incremental times later when I get home. Below is a list of my mods and HP numbers;
Paxton Novi 2200 (H.O.) blower with intercooler, high-capacity fuel injectors, hi-flow fuel pump, Stage 1 Supercharger Crane cams, JBA ceramic-coated titanium shorty headers; JBA axle back exhaust system; Stage 2 auto trans (cryo-treated & sleeved) and 2,700 stall torque converter upgrade, One piece composite drive shaft, 3:73 gears, SCT re-flash and custom tune, American Racing Torq Thrust 18 X 9 wheels, 255/45 R18 BF Goodrich G-Force KDW 2 tires.
442 RWHP, 385 ft lbs torque.
I'm sure I should be doing better than 12.87, but 11's seem to be just a dream.
OK... post up those incrementals when you can.
Also, what was the track elevation and weather like?

BTW: I run an auto too...

You have some nice mods but I don't see many suspension mods. Are you just not listing them or don't have them? 80% of my (and Don's for that matter) ET's are due to our ability to hook the cars well.
Most internet sites focus greatly on dyno numbers and reaching a HP. I only run 570 rwhp to run deep 10's and Don doesn't even run 500 with only 12 psi and he is deep in the 11's. Capitolizing on the power you have>than a big HP number everytime...

60' = 2.081
330 = 5.569
1/8 = 8.384
MPH = 86.76
1000 = 10.832
1/4 = 12.877
MPH = 110.96
I don't know the track elevation (I'll find out). The weather was hot (upper 80's that day with about 70% humidity)

. Anyway...it was my first time at the track and I had a blast. I can certainly see why you guys do it. It's adicting.
Best 10.9@122MPH
I just noticed that you ran a 10 with a V6 Auto? That is impressive! Nice job.

i think its your 60ft...you should be about 1.6-1.7.....idk but it seems like 60fts are everything.
I concur with the previous two posts. My gut reaction is that the tires are not hooking well and hurting the 60' times. And slow 60' times translate to higher ETs. Another variable is the track prep. A poor track surface can have a major negative impact on 60' times. If you can chop 2 or 3 tenths off the 60... then the ET may fall as much as 3 to 5 tenths (or more).
The other thing I notice is that the mph at the 1/8 is indicative of a low-8 or high-7 second 1/8-mi run... which would equate to a low 12-sec run.

Ditto Don. All of his short times are low. The 330' shows his starts just aren't bad in the 60' but all through the 330'. His 1/4 MPH right there tells me that after the 1/8 - he's making enough power to get what he wants.
His attention needs to be on the short times for sure. You are3 right, he knocks even 2 tenths off those short times it will carry down the 1320' and give him what he's after.
He said he has no suspension mods - he should be looking seriously there IMO.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It is much appreciated. I'm just a rookie at this stuff but I found out that I really like it. It is a blast to open her up all the way. And it sure beats getting a ticket. I think I'll start looking at some suspension mods for the very near future. Maybe I'll get a pair of street slicks for track day too. Thanks again.
haha sure thing dave! im only 15 you knw.....lol, but i knw more bout cars than u think....lol
