Just saw them in the other thread, and will include my thanks for the exhaust pics here as well.

Thanks.

Thanks for posting this Joe. Do you have any dynos of just the CAI, everything else bone stock? Also A/F ratio would be cool if possible. Thanks.

It's finally Here.

Well the unit arrived and I began the installation...Not very hard but there are a few comments to start with.

1. Polished unit has a some pitting. I guess I expected perfection. It's not terrible but we all like a lot of "show" as well as go.
2. The plastic box that covers the air filter is really too thin in my opinion and is an easily breakable piece as it currently is made. Mine came with two cracks but the box looked like it went through a Browns tackle practice.
3. The STOCK breather/vent hose from the manifold cover over to the CAI is NOT LONG ENOUGH. Mine misses by 4 inches. GMS does provides a long tube to replace the stock unit. I mention this because it wasn't in the instructions and I didn't see the piece till later so when yours doesn't fit, don't freak just grab the hose.

Basic install for anybody...

Step 1. Remove old stuff.

Step 2. Put the sleeve on the end of the CAI first and tighten down till it's pretty tight.

Step 3. Put the MAF into the slot with the 2 screws provided. I put a little blue locktite on them.

Step 4. Put the plastic box on with the 1 and only stock screw but don't tighten it down yet. You will want to move it around just a bit until the cai is on. Oh, The front slides underneath the radiator cover to firm it up once you do tighten it down.

Step 5. Slide the cai over the t-body and clamp it down. Make sure you have it through the plastic air cleaner box.

Step 6. Attach the air cleaner and tighten it down. I found it easiest to remove the clamp, get it on and then put the clamp back over. Just a little easier even though you take the clamp all the way apart.

Step 7. Attach the long tube to the cai and the manifold vent , tighten everything again and that's it....Your ready to fire the car up and see what she will do.

Rate: Cai unit....A little pitted and not as polished as I would like.....7 out of 10.

Plastic box..... Not very strong plastic....2 out of 10. Only one screw (stock) to attatch this box so it MIGHT break after time due to vibration...This is just my opinion
Overall I like the unit. It just had a few minor flaws that can be easily fixed or replaced and GMS is shipping them out ASAP. Can't do better than that.
Tomorrow is the real test, starting the car and seeing what type of Gains that I will at least FEEL. That, is after all, what it's all about.

Below is the unit installed and also a shot of that "hose" that I originally missed.

2. The plastic box that covers the air filter is VERY cheap and is an easily breakable piece. Mine came with two cracks. It seems like it will beat the crap out of the CAI unit since there is only 1 screw holding the plastic piece down and really nothing is holding the cai to anything except the clamp at the t-body. I would like to see some way of attaching or firming it up down at the air cleaner end.

Rate: Cai unit....Pitted and not as polished as I would like.....7 out of 10.

Plastic box..... Not very good at all....2 out of 10. Since there is nothing else to rate yet (I will run it tomorrow as it's now dark and I'm still up on jacks waiting for the exhaust and LCA's to come.
Sorry the cover was broken - I told you I would send a new one immediately

Yep, and I knew you would...Your customer service has been excellent and I can't complain about that at all. You also mentioned that you would replace the CAI if I wanted but it's really not bad enough to send back, just not up to what I consider your standards. So really, the only downside to this was the plastic box which is getting replaced. I will let everybody know how it starts and rides tomorrow. Hopefully things will go as smoothly as the t-body went when I installed that.

Yea, this does seem like it's going on in 3 different posts and it well could get into another (asking what the best cai is).... But NOW FOR THE GOOD NEWS, I just love this GMS unit. I started the beast up this morning and took it for a spin. From the get go you can feel the power increase and the sound increase is also much improved. THe throttle feel also seems like it's improved. When you put the pedal down it just picks up quicker (or at least it sounds/feels like it). Since I already had the t-body to go along with the Cai/Mas it's hard not to like this trio of parts. The T-body is a great looking piece and it much improves the looks over the stock unit, not to mention performance and gas improvements (that I can verify as mine went up about 1 mpg after the t-body. IT will be very interesting to see if it goes up again with the completed unit. Once I get the replacment box that was broken in shipping, this will really be one sweet unit. Now I'm gonna have to have it dyno'd to see just what I am sitting with. No, I don't have the bone stock one but I don't care what I came from, only where I'm going.... I would definitly rate this unit as an "A". Oh, one other thing...JR did send me the exhaust package at his cost to go that one extra step. Not many others would do this. He also has extensive knowlege of the corsa exhaust (I will let him explain his connections) so lets see, corsa 600.00, GMS 350. Both have no drone, the GMS mufflers look better (tips are hard to tell) and both add about the same HP...I think I will pay more.....Not......

I have a 2007 car coming Saturday Morning - based on the 05 vs. the 06 the 07 should be basically the same.

One thing I found on this car though is after 5k it goes 9.5 to 1 A/F

Holy crap those are impressive numbers for just the CAI w/MAF!
+28.8 HP and +24.1 ft/lbs!

And thanks Joe for taking my order for the CAI and TB after hours tonight! That's some customer service.

JR,

Let me see if I got this straight.

Your CAI and MAF combo, increase power by about 25HP.
As far as the ECM is concerned everything is stock, just a power increase from the increased air.

Since the car is basically stock with your setup. Am i to assume that on top of your hardware i could get a Predator or SCT2 tuner and use the STOCK calibirations they provide for 87,89,91 pump gas?
To get an even higher power increase?
