FRPP (not impressed)

Without db measurements, or side-by-side comparrison videos this is basically a worthless argument.
The bottom line is the original poster didn't get what he expected (which was probably more like the Loundmouths), yet the Borla's are generally loud enough for most, and probably too loud for those concerned about exquisite feeling release of liquid waste product off neighbors or cops.

I figured I would stir up alot of emotion with this post. As many have stated the sound is a matter of preference. However, when I stated that they were only somewhat louder then stock, the numbers from a test in a recent mustang magazine (can't remember The name) back up this fact.
IDLE NOISE
STOCK 68 DBA
FRPP 71 DBA
CRUISE NOISE AT 2000 RPM
STOCK 96 DBA
FRPP 96 DBA
Yes, they are louder at WOT.

I found the quiet version using Google. If you goto Fordracing.com and click on the "New 05 Parts" they aren't listed. I am interested to hear what these sound like. I wanted to replace my stock mufflers and these might be a good combo with my OR X-pipe.

That was using the quiet series and not the S-type.

The part number they used is in the article, it's not the "Q".

From the FRPP site there looks to be 3 different sets of mufflers for the GT
The 49 state M-5230-5GT*
T-304 stainless construction
Proven increase in horsepower and torque
Louder, "throatier" exhaust note
49 state drive-by noise legal (not legal in CA)
Includes mufflers with Ford Racing embossed 3.5" exhaust tips
_= most awesome Loud
The 50 StateM-5230-5GTA*
T-409 stainless body with highly polished 4.0" diameter tips
Louder, "throatier" exhaust note
50 state legal
A = Alternate Loud
The 50 State M-5230-5GTQ*
T-304 stainless construction
Slightly "throatier" exhaust note than stock
50 state drive-by noise legal
Includes mufflers with Ford Racing embossed 3.5" exhaust tips
Q = Quiet

I'll put another monkey wrench in it!
M-5230-5GT has 4" tips not 3.5". I measured

I disagree with you subzero. With the 4.6 motors...Borlas are one of the top 5 loudest exhaust systems for it. For the 4.6 2V...the only louder setup i've heard is Flowmaster 1-chambers...which have a ton of more rasp/drone.

OK, here's my 3 cents worth on the subject.
I ordered the FRPP S-Type & was sent the Q version by mistake. They are an oval, turbo style muffler about 1/2 size of stock (shorter & narrower) with a nice tail pipe. I put them on & they were mariginally deeper than stock & about same as stock loudness. Took em back off & I'm getting the loud, canister type ones.
Was definitely disappointed in the Q sound but I did not take them on a test drive, didn't want to mess em up. I only did a cold start & some engine revving in the yard. Can't wait to get my other ones.
Don't pay any attention to my profile that says I have a Sonic Blue 2005 V-6, cause I traded it about a month ago for a Silver GT. I'll change my profile if I can.
