I took my mufflers off to see what it sounded like.
Very nice (and loud) but I have to wonder how much of the drone would be eliminated after the pipes are added like you are doing. I think some of the drone was from having all the sound directed right above the axle (with no mufflers). Perhaps the new pipes will direct the sound out the rear instead of under the car...

Done? What drone? All mine has is a "sweet spot".
OK. So I like the drone.
Whatever you want to call it, yes, the Loud Mouth's have it just above 2000 RPM.

Just for giggles (and a "sound" test), I just swapped out my SLP PowerFlos for a set of SLP Loudmouths (let's call them "hawgman rejects"... lol). I'm going drive it this way for a while and then decide which exhaust I will keep. The LMs are definitely louder.

Ok, guys...
here is my dilemma... I want REALLY deep throaty... even at idle. I am not concerned with neighbors, (my alarm goes off daily from a Harley next door) and I am pretty lucky when it comes to cops.
I know I want straight pipes. But, I want a really old skool sound. Remember the days of glass packed carbs? The rumble that would make you giggle at idle, and at WOT could wake another county?
It needs to be deep, even, not a lot of popping, and if I have to have cabin drone, I am ok with that!
HELP! I have listened to tons of clips, and none of them get me in that SPOT

All I can say is that the sound clips don't really do any of the exhaust systems justice. You really need to hear them in person, especially if you are looking for the "special" sound. I pulled my mufflers completely off and other than being a bit loud, I really liked it...

I know that someone said that the Borlas sounds almost like straight pipes but I can't confirm that. I only know that the Borla system is the deepest and throatiest system out there including any straight pipe setup I've heard. Its also loud enough to put a smile on your face and wake your neighbours up

Well, the reason I want straight pipes is because out of eveything I have heard, those sound the best. If I can get the same sound, and stay with mufflers, thats the best of both worlds, cuz then I dont have to worry about getting a ticket for no mufflers.

Jessica... are you in San Diego? I have the SLP loudmouths, and you are welcome to hear them. I'll be at the drag races at Qualcomm next Friday (9/9/05)... stop by and have a listen for yourself. I'll have the Sonic Blue car making lots of noise and smoke. For example: http://home.comcast.net/~kresstek/dw1.wmv

I think hearing assassination would come in the form of longtube headers, an offroad H-pipe, and SLP Loudmouths.
