Placed my order for Flowmaster today. Was influenced by this web site. Maybe it was the color of the car

FordMuscle - Flowmaster

This site says they worked hard to eliminate "the dreaded 2000-2500 rpm exhaust drone". I've seen conflicting posts on this. Guess if I don't like them I can sell them on ebay.

Hot Rod TV did a back to back test (intake, then Flowmaster) and gained 6rwhp with the Flowmasters. I'm hoping to see 10rwhp with my Supercharger. I'll have to dyno it when I put them on. I also have the Bassani x-pipe...

I just finished reading a good "Axle-back Exhaust Showdown for the 2005 Mustang" (and spec's) article in SEP 05's "5.0 Mustang and Super Fords magazine".

It's got HP ratings at different RPMs and decibel levels at idle and WOT.

Good read.

But . . . they didn't test the SLP Power-Flo's, which is what I got coming in the mail now.

Flowmaster Installed Pics, before and after. I really like the old style sound and you can't beat the price.

Does anyone know what kind of power gains Mac's prochamber delivers?? I don't like the raspy sound of the X's, ive heard em all...and I would like more power gains than all the axlebacks can deliver (hardly any), so if anyone could get me some input on the prochamber H pipe, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!!

Guys, I'm pretty torn between the Flowmasters or SLP Loudmouth, what's the best place to get the SLP LM at a reasonable price?

If you want my opinion . . . I was in a "toss-up" about Flowmaster or SLP Loudmouths. Because I live a neighborhood that is very congested, I was worried about disturbing the neighbors, so . . . .

I took "Don W's" advice and went with the "SLP Power-Flows". YES !!!! It was the correct thing to do. Just a "tad" louder at first crank, but you probably wouldn't notice it if you didn't know you just changed them out. Slightly louder at 2000-3000 cruise, but not iritating and then . . . . . WOT - Watch-out !!! Still not too loud (from inside the car), but for the people walking down the street or behind you, it's awesome sound all the way down the road.

I want to thank everybody on this thread that provided input, especially Don W.

With the test drive complete, it is getting dark here in Germany, so my pictures didn't turn out very good. I'll post some tomorrow.

The only bad thing I can say about them, is that I messed around for 45 min trying to get both tips to line up the same (in relation to the rear valance cut-outs). I still don't have it perfect yet. I'll save that for the weekend, when I have a few beers in me. Maybe they'll look "more" straight then.

The cheapest I found was $224.94 shipped from LM Performance
out of Destin, FL, but I just checked and they went up to $280. I just ordered mine this weekend so I guess I got lucky.

Check this guy on eBay He was selling them for $224 also even thought he doesn't have a set listed now. Email him. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2005-Ford-M...1QQcmdZViewItem

Don,

I noticed your running 255/50-18's on your front, any rubbing problems? Would there be room for 255/55-18's up there (it's another inch in overall diameter.

oops, my mistake, you have 17's. I'm trying to find out if 255/55-18 tires would be too big for running in the front.

Friedmaster is running 255/50-18's with no problem.

loosten up all 4 bolts pers side, then get them where you want them, have a second person hold them in position, then tighten all 4 bolts starting from the front...retighten in 1 week. Make sure before you get it in the right position that you get under and try to wiggle everything free after the bolts are loose of course!

No, thank YOU for your awesome sound clips. SLP should be sending you checks for all business you've gotten them!

Fire Dragon - nice sound!! I currently have the Magnaflow axle back and am wanting more sound - those SLP's sound great.....compared to the Magnaflow - can you describe the SLP as far as interior cabin noise at freeway speeds and how much of the dreaded drone do you get cruising around town? Also, are they a chambered muffler or flow through design like the Magnaflow?

thx!! Man that just sounds RIGHT!!

Wish I could man, but I don't even have my car yet! I put all these sound clips together so I wouldn't have to search everytime I wanted to hear a different exhaust clip. Really wish I could hear them all in person. I still haven't made my mind up yet! They all sound so good.
Here's an interior SLP soundclip from cleveland: http://snt-systems.com/temp/mustang/slp_lm_interior.avi
Hope it helps.

EDIT: and another exterior: http://snt-systems.com/temp/mustang/slp_lm_exterior.avi

That clip is the closest I've heard to the real thing. As for the interior noise, I'm VERY surprised at how quiet they are inside. Must be a LOT of sound deadening material in these cars. I can't wait to get a friend of mine to drive it so I can hear them from the outside.

As for the design, the SLP Loud Mouth's aren't mufflers at all. They are just pipes and tips. Nothing else. Can't get any more "straight through" than that!
