08 gt500 looks better and you can probably get it cheaper, but that 2011 is a beast.
If I found an 07,08,09 gt500 for the right price I would buy it.

Stock? If your alleging so, I'd like to see some dyno data to back it up and none of the typical 15% internet horsepower standard correction bull**** please. Its a great motor and I have no doubt somebody will crack the 600hp barrier N/A in full race trim eventually, but I'm not ready to believe all the hyperbole just yet.

I'd just like to point out, until the advent of the Track Pack 2010 cars and the 2011 GT, the GT500 was indeed the top dog in handling. I know, but the 07-09 GTs had a suspension tuned to avoid any lawsuit based on aggrevated hemriods coupled with all season tires.

The GT500 may have lacked the lightweight finesse of the GT, but the GT ultimately did not have the grip nor the high speed dynamics of the GT500.

I can't say about a Bullitt (since I've never owned or driven one), but given what I had done to my 07 GT, the only Mustang I can think of that would trounce a GT500 during the S-197a years would have been an SGT.

Choices!!

I'd take the GT500 if it wasn't beaten into the ground by the previous owner.

If you were looking for the best all around 05-09, the Bullitt was the car to have IMO. I think an 07-09 GT500 with the FRPP suspension, on the other hand, could be a very nice ride, and make a huge improvement over an already great car.

No comparison, but I'm biased! Especially for the price.

I found a couple dealers here in California with 2008 GT 500's with 10-20 miles on them. Still sitting on the show room floor. There asking 40-100k for them.

Realistically how much could one get an 08 for?

Seems like a great car, I'd love to have one as a DD, but wouldn't part with my 09 GT500 for it.

I have a '12 GT and wished i would have gotten the GT500. The 12 interior is amazing but the GT500 is just amazing. For what i want to do with the 5.0 i coulda bought a Cobra and saved some cash. He only downside in my opinion is the iron block. Other than that i think the 500 is more of what i wanted in a stang. Raw power! Live an learn i guess. Can't go wrong with either one. That sc whine, enough said.

Not bashing the 5.0 but the 500 is more of a raw beast.

Amen to your post. I wish I would have picked me up a used GT500 too. My 11 5.0 is a great ride but the 5.4 SC motor is simply top dog.

Hi guys just want to refresh this thread instead of starting a new one. I'm getting the serious itch to get a new Mustang and I'm finding used, low mile, well equipped 11 GTs and 07-09 GT500s selling in the low 30s. Any suggestions?

I found a 08 GT500, bone stock 20k on it for 31k

Also found a 11 GT premium 7k on it for 29k

I have a 20k 03 Cobra that i'd either be selling or trading for the down payment.

Are you planning on staying stock? I wouldn't mind upgrading to the Shelby myself one day but I don't want a stock one. I'm really pleased with buying a modded cobra. All the upgrades I wanted anyways and it didn't cost me any extra. Lots of things I would change on the Shelby exterior but I want that body with the 5.4. The GT is not capable of the horsepower of your cobra so I wouldn't call the new GT an upgrade. I say go used Shelby. If mods are a plan, go modded Shelby.

LOL A lot of people tell me that, I just want something drastically new. I've had 4th gen Mustangs since I've been able to drive. Though my Cobra is much nicer it really isn't that different from my 97 that I've owned since 99.

He doesn't do that. He waits for them to be a few years old then buys used! Haha

I'd say go '11 GT. After I drove an '09 GT, I couldn't live with that interior. It felt no better than the SN95 interior, just a different design.

I guess the big upgrade for me would be refinement. My car is modded to about the same power as a stock GT500, probably a little quicker than either car in stock trim. My brother bought a 2010 GT a couple years ago and I fell in love with the driving comfort of his car but didn't want to sacrifice the power my car has I think with the 5.0 I'd get the same comfort and close to the same power. Finally used 5.0 prices are coming down to reality.

With the GT500 I'd get something more comfortable than my car and way more power potential, though I'm not planning on going crazy with mods. Overall I like the interior of the 2010+ but like the exterior of the 07-09 GT500 best. My ideal situation would be a white w/ blue stripe GT500 coupe with 2010 GT500 wheels.
