Well, I do live in northern NJ, so that might have something to do with it...

That's why I take 2 parking spots everywhere I go..... go to the back of the lot and park down the middle of two spaces.....
That's the way to go!

That does stink. I went to the mall the other day and parked way out back, like most people with a new car do and I got that 1 idiot that lives in every city that has to take his beater and park as close as he can do the drivers door of my car. Fortunately I did not have a door ding, but I did have to climb in through the passenger side. Seeing as mine and his cars were the only ones in the area I left him a present. He can match the dent in his door to my shoe if he wants, but looking at his car, he most likely didn't even notice the dent.

 I know you've had to see that commercial where the real Junky, smokey car parks right next to a nice car? I can't remember what the ad was about but that happens all the time as you witnessed. You're not part of the problem at all.

Here's what I've noticed in the parking lots. 1) People tend to naturally park next to someone else instead of taking the 'hint' to park with the pack. You hope people wanna park closer to the store but they'd probably rather park next to you and check out your car (hopefully it's good intentions) AND 2) The lines do not matter. "Most" people will (at best) aim their car down the middle of two parked cars regardless of the lines. So my attempts to park on the end all the way to the outside line or even a little over it are wasted.

Taking two spots is risky but usually I've seen little problem EXCEPT when it's XMAS shopping time or you DON'T do it far far away.

Happy Parking

The Ding Doctor (or whatever name, there are several) do wonders! I've used them a couple of times. If the paint isn't broken they can make it look like new again.
Used Dent Wizard on my wife's Taurus. Had two half dollar size dinks in one of the doors. Couldn't tell they were there when he was done. Cost $99, They can do it outside at a parking lot, etc unless temp is too low and cause the paint to crack

So you think kicking someone door in because they parked too close to your car is ok? Even if they didnt even ding your car or anything?

when these idiots park so close to you that you have to be a contortionist to get into your car even when the parking lot is full of empty spaces... that is just so primitive that it is time to get out the club

Well, I'm sure the next time that guy who's door got kicked in parks next to a new car (maybe it will be my 05) he might grin and jam his door into my car since some other jerk kicked his door in... Do you see a pattern of people not respecting other peoples property?? :bang:

Personally,
I'd do the same thing.

Eye for an eye.
You dent me..I'll dent you.

As for parking too close. Are they that blind? not being able to see the guy/gal they parked beside can't even get IN their vehicle?
thats just ignorance

It is possible to get them out of the crease in the door. I had heard it wasn't, but I had one on my Accord in a crease, and it came out. It really depends on the skill level of the person doing the repair. They should be able to tell you how it will come out before doing the work. I'm on a first name basis with the owner of the place I go to. I went over 2 and a half years without a ding on this car and within 2 weeks had to see him twice last summer. I always look for right end spots when I can find them.

personally id get a bright orange warning sticker and slap it on their drivers side window...

it goes something like this:

WARNING! You are illegally parked here. A record of this violation has been made. You're next violation may warrant towing of your vehicle. blah blah blah, etc.

Yah, the keying for taken up two spots is a tragic reality! Im working on a casino project right now and we have to park in thier parking garage. I scrutenized for a half-hour searching for the perfect spot.Went to the 5th floor (most spots open all day) huged into a wall and took two spots. Two weeks no problems ,Friday though I went to get into my car and as I did my walk around "inspection" , I had a 4 inch key scratch on my passenger side rear quarter.DOWN to the BARE METAL!!!! I spent two hours with security sifting through security video's trying to find the Gutless PUNK!!! to no avail. I would give anything to have caught this clown! So now it's the search for the perfect paint shop to make my baby like new again.

see that was my other concern -- it's a brand new car -- I don't want to take it to someone who's gonna promise something then leave it looking more fu###d up than when I took it in. I looked into the yellow pages & there are a million of these guys out there --- who do you trust ?? :bang:
