Thank you Tom and Burton. The dib + white + chrome is key to the 'jumping' off the page. I rarely even have to adjust the picture. Fortunately you can not see the water/soap spots from the drive thru other day. Nor the giant dragon fly stuck in my ram air intake (subsequently removed)

 

I spent most of yesterday detailing it, did everything except a wax and buff with my DA.

On the spur of the moment today I decided to investigate some communities and properties in the Stroudsburg, Pa area. I could have taken the Fusion, but today called for top down.

I put almost 200 miles on it today...most of it on Rt 80 & 380, but it got a fair amount of time on twisting, narrow roads, one lane bridges, and one very dirty, gravel filled lane that I made a wrong turn onto. I even drove through a slight sprinkle @ 80mph, so no harm was done.

When I got home I had a great convertible tan, but all my hard work from yesterday was for naught. The body has an inch of dust, the nose and windshield are covered in bugs, and my wheels are now beige. Empty water bottles are strewn throughout the interior along with a few errant cigarette ashes, small stones, and various pieces of foliage.

And it never looked better!!!!! What a great drive.

I completely forgot, in the chaos that ensued this weekend (nuff said, don't ask), that Sunday was my 1 year anniversary with my baby! My dad and I flew up to Seattle and drove her home, 975 miles. It's crazy to think that most of the mods I did that day, have been undone or redone lol

 

today i put on my brand-spankin new floormats and got my windows tinted! baby-steps, ya'll.

 

Well, this has been over the last week, but finally finished yesterday: a good friend asked me to detail his wife's 92 5.0 LX convertible as a surprise for her (the family was on vacation this past week). She's the original owner, and likes to drive it. I didn't say take care of it; just drive it! I'm not sure when it was last detailed, but it had to have been 10 years back. So I wash, clay bar, clay again, compound, compound again, apply Klasse all-in-one (two coats) and finally Klasse sealant glaze for two coats. That was just the exterior.

The interior needed lots of attention from the vacuum and steam cleaner, as well as a healthy cleansing with 303 all purpose cleaner and then 303 protectant. The interior is white, and I had a bottle of Bleeche-White handy, so now it's back to a semblance of white again. Oh, and I even got to break out the wd-40 for some duct tape residue removal from the top of the windshield frame where they had to hold their old top down until they replaced it with a new one. Engine bay and trunk cleaning was done also. Whew!!!
I think I used every product and detailing tool I own, and boy was it fun!!!!
Next week I'm getting the car back to replace their broken door handles for them (did I mention I had to always keep one window open so I could access the interior handle and not lock myself out of the car?)

Took mine on a little road trip with some friends to drive the S550

.....and I want one. No, scrap that, I NEED one

What a bloody fantastic drivers car! My friend and I met Bill Shepherd (the largest Mustang specialist in the UK) at the Goodwood Festival of Speed and he was kind enough to invite us down to drive their new demonstrator.

This is a Performance White GT Fastback equipped with the 6-speed auto (so non-Performance Pack).........the actual spec I'd likely order as, being an old fart who loves his automatic daily drivers, I have grown tired of manual cars. Or perhaps I'm just out of practice

It wasn't the longest test drive, and traffic was pants, but it was enough to give me a flavour. In normal mode, the car is relaxing, whilst still being beautifully composed, with a terrific ride (it was on 20" Shelby wheels), and superb steering. Pop it into Sport+ and it comes alive, holding revs and letting you be in full control. I only played with the paddles for a short while, but they react nicely, and add to the driving enjoyment. It bloody quick, too. Certainly enough to seriously notice the extra 135 ponies over mine. The stock exhaust was a bit muted, but it's still a lovely burble.........or howl at high revs.

The interior looks fantastic to me, with all the controls having a nice weighty precision. It well built, too, with only a few pieces of cheaper trim (most notable in the back). The cooled seats were a nice touch, too :shock:

The 8" touchscreen is great, and all cars feature a backup camera, which displays on that screen. Does a Mustang need a tonne of toys? No. Is it nice to have them? Hell yes!

Downsides? One. And only one. Rear seat headroom is rubbish! Leg room was fine and the seat is actually very comfortable, with good bolstering but, at 6ft, I had to crane my head to one side. Still, as this was my first, and probably last, backseat ride in a Mustang, it really isn't an issue :P

So, a resounding 10 outta 10 from me. This is a Mustang that requires NO excuses. It's a damned fine car, but a bloody fantastic Mustang :cow

When we returned, Bill took us out in the black Shelby GT. Bill Shepherd Mustang are the first official Shelby Mod Shop outside the US and this is their first build (Shelby currently have just 2 cars built in the US!) With over 600 supercharged ponies this thing is a BEAST! Still beautifully composed when cruising, but an ANIMAL once the accelerator is flattened. In fact, violent is how I'd describe the acceleration! It also looks fantastic. The carbon additions (splitter/side skirts/spoiler etc) don't really show in photos, but they look gorgeous in the flesh. A classy, classy car.
