I know **** about beans. I won't eat them unless its bean dip or maybe refried beans on a nacho.

The only 'bean' ill eat is a green bean.

When I was about 3 years old I ate some beans and got sick not from the beans but from something else. Ever since they make me gag and I can't eat them.

don't ever eat my chili then. It's bean city, it's also been known to clear rooms 3-4 hours later, but it's dang good.

That sucks.

I love big bowl of beans with cornbread. Gotta be home cooked though, with some type of ham in them for flavor. I prefer pintos and whites mixed, but I haven't made just white beans in a while so I decided to.

That's why I didn't like Stefanny's pic of her chili dogs that had beans on them

I just have some kind of psychological reaction to them.

My dad one offered me $20 when I was about 13 to eat a bowl of pinto beans. I got half the bowl down and couldn't take anymore. I was gagging after every spoon.

Yeah cuz it's tied to your memory of being sick. My mom can't even stand the smell of blueberries for that very reason. As a kid she climbed up and stole some blueberry pies my grandma made. She ate so much it made her sick. Hence...

I'm like that with the smell of turkey. I can eat it as long as the smell isn't very prevalent

sounds awesome

place where my mom lives has a restaurant, kind of a home cooking deal, but they have lima beans that are cooked way down and flavored with ham till they're kind of a paste consistency, they're incredible.

Nah, butter beans are different than white beans (Great Northern). They're in the Lima bean range, more of a wide flat bean.

I don't like Lima beans.

I love the smell of turkey cooking - particularly smoking it with hickory on a Weber kettle.

Make some, that would make several great meals for someone on a budget. They're cheap as hell. Just buy a pound of dry great northern beans, a small ham hock (about $1) sort the beans pick out any bad ones or rocks, put them in a pan, rinse them off, cover them with water, drop in the ham hock, salt and pepper, bring them to a boil for 20 minutes or so, turn them down, cover and let them simmer for a couple hours until they're soft. Add water as needed to get them as soupy or thick as you want them.

Lots of protein and fiber, go with anything or by themselves, and filling.

I shoulda said ground turkey. I fried some up once for meatballs in my spaghetti (was trying to be healthy), and it smelled bad. Mighta been spoiled. Threw the whole thing out and went to bed hungry lol

That was if you were just wanting to try white beans. You cook pintos the same way, but pintos take a little longer to cook. I normally use a pound of white and pound of pintos mixed and it makes a big pot. We can eat a meal off of them and still have some for a couple of more meals with 2 pounds.
