More to the point, REGULAR backups. Like monthly at the longest.

 

I learned nothing. I think I just got 8 months dumber again. Or is it smarter?

I told Scothew it wasn't a good idea for him to download his granny **** onto the server.

 

Corrupt too. This backup was squirreled away on a different system that's not normally on the grid. Let's just say our work just got a little more involved because along with backing up the system, we're going to have to periodically restore backups to a cold spare and test them. Not something that's part of your normal backup strategy when you're talking about volunteers.

 

And it's all backward! Even my avatar is "last year"...

 

I'm always nervous my backup has a bug. I scan the heck out of the system before I back up but I'm always wondering if my backup is squeaky clean or that dang April Fools virus is just waiting...
(in fact I usually change the date to April 2 just before midnight March 31st even though that crash happened like 10 yrs ago... LOL)
