Is NASCAR 09 any good? I was so disappointed with NASCAr 08 that I decided not to buy 09.

07 was pretty good.

Let me know after you play it.

I haven't played a NASCAR game since like 1998 on SEGA Genesis. A buddy of mine got it and said he liked it, though he likes the career mode playing against the computer better than any online play. He says that online there is just way too many cautions with people just wrecking each other on purpose and when you are only running 10 or 20 lap races, 6 or 7 cautions can be very annoying. I'll hook it up eventually, although it hasn't been much of a priority lately. Oh I forgot, I gave my old original 360 to my oldest two daughters and got an elite 360 a couple of weeks ago. I've got to open that box and hook it up before I can even play a game.

I was thinking of buying 360 (I have xBox and PS2), but I've been reading that they have some hardware problems and that they can damage CDs. And PS3 is still little too pricey for me.

You too huh I buy a new hot game and there it sits in the wrapper untill it's like a Commador computer, I hardly have time for it but if it's a new High tech Gadget I seem to have to have it ! I am disturbed = down with the sickness. althought Time Crisis 4 for PS3 is kinda cool hook up gun sensors and place each end of TV monitor calibrate and point the orange gun @ the screen and have fun.

I haven't had a problem other than the dreaded "red ring of death" on the first system. But I don't play anything but the games on it. I have DVD players and CD players for those things. I did however buy the intercooler, I think, fans that snap on to back of the console, and I always keep it flat and never play too long or leave it on. Excessive heat is a problem that damages mother boards in the 360. Each generation of motherboard is an improvement, but it is scary nonetheless.

That's bad enough for me, I don't wanna spend $300+ for a system that will have problems. I had my PS2 for about 5 years and it won't read purple CDs, but other than that its working fine.
I guess PS3 worth the extra money. But then again, I really wanna play Forza 2 ...

Dont' get me wrong Zoran. Microsoft fixed everything and returned it no questions asked. But it was very annoying when it happened. The unit I gave to my daughters is still working perfectly. I had a chance to buy the PS3 and still chose the 360 a couple of weeks ago. But, I had first Xbox and no PS2.

I know this is way off topic, but it is off topic chatter,

These are the video game consoles I have owned in my life:

Original Pong game given to me by my older brother
Odyssey
Atari 2600
Intellivision
Colecovision
Nintendo
Sega Genesis
Playstation 1
XBox
XBox 360

Edit: Needless to say, the next one was always better than the last. But there was always another one to come.

You know, I didn't really read this correctly the first time. That is some statement. I have seen some pretty stupid stuff uttered around here. To think, mine is the stupidest. Wow. Well I guess I'll take solace that it was "just about". So there really might be one or two stupider things ever said on TMS before.

Chill, dude. I didn't say you were stupid, I said those remarks were. Just don't forget to engage brain before opening mouth or typing.

OK cool. I was being a bit too hasty for some reason, and I don't know why. I guess that's yet another reason why I'm not Secretary of State. I realize you never said I was stupid. So I'm cool if you are.

Although technically I was actually more joking than anything. The problem is I don't transition well enough from joking to serious situations. Just ask my wife.

1, Sega is awesome, but Sony is my #1 now

2, I know this all seemed to stop a page ago, but lets keep the swearing, even if partially censored, to a minimum guys just putting an asterisk in for one of the letters isn't quiiite good enough. The first letter, followed by asterisks is usually a bit more ok. Same with the name hostilities. We're all good folk here

Sorry to butt in, but rules are rules

Anyway.

What I am curious about after all that is this...

Hollywood, do you feel the same about your original post when you started this thread? Or do you now feel that maybe Russia was justifiably provoked. Obviously the Russians had some plan to do this, because those tanks just didn't appear over those mountains over night. They were there waiting or had been recently deployed there. I think they were sent and staged and actually waited for Olympic ceremonies before engaging conflict. I have no proof of it. But it is my belief. Yet others feel that Georgia brought this on themselves. They should have left South Ossetia alone, because they knew this would happen. So perhaps both are to blame, as is very commonly the case in the non black and white world you posted about before. Knowing all this now, or perhaps its something else all together, what is your course of action?

Sorry Arin, actually didn't know that, but it is my bad, and I won't do it anymore. I guess as my father would say if you have to resort to cursing, you've already lost the argument.

Yes, Georgia provoked this by attacking South Ossetia. That's undeniable.

But, Russia was encouraging South Ossetia to stir up insurrection anyway.

Putin has every right to be upset about the missile defense shield in his backyard, just as we were upset about Cuba in '62, and just (as someone else pointed out) as the Soviets were upset about American missiles in Turkey in the late '50s.

But, Putin is ex-KGB who laments the fall of Soviet Russia. If you look at Russia's long history, they have always had territorial ambitions in their immediate region. Putin wants to re-assert Russian hegemony in that part of the world and to be taken seriously as a power again. In some ways, I can't really blame him...

However, strategically, from an American and/or Western position, it is dangerous for the United State to allow Russia to take aggressive actions like this unchallenged, not because we want to start any sort of war with them, but because to do so will be forever perceived as weakness by the Russians, and merely encourage them to take further steps next time. A mild example of this may be seen in their bellicose language re America's missile defense shield in Poland (notwithstanding the fact that they are actually well within their rights to be upset about this issue).

See how complex this all is? This isn't about "good vs. evil," as McCain would like to have everyone believe. It's about self-interests. The Russians have as much right to their own lives and national autonomy as the United States, and see themselves as protecting that. However, I believe that Putin went too far in this particular case, and I believe he did so because he presumed (correctly) that America was in no position to challenge him. In a sense, he was testing the waters to see what we would do...in order to inform his next move.

And we missed an important counter-move in this chess game, because the current administration are completely and utterly out of their depth when the big boys come out to play. It's all well and good to talk about the threat of al Quada, which certainly is a threat to world security - but which is nothing compared to a conflict between nuclear armed nation states; like comparing an attack by a handful of angry wasps to a charging bear. One may hurt you or even seriously injure some of you, but the other will kill all of you for sure.

I never believed for one moment that the Cold War was over, and always felt such talk was premature. Sure, the fall of the Berlin wall and the collapse of the old Soviet Union marked a major thaw, but hardly an end. This cauldron has been simmering for some time, and what I'm saying is that we are all responsible for it to one degree or another; in the West's case largely due to failed foreign policies and incompetent leadership.

Understand that the Russians only respect one thing: strength. And we need to start showing some, not by bombing countries like Iraq (a distractive and unnecessary war that harkens back to 18th century British imperialism) that were never any real threat to us, but by finishing the mission in Afghanistan to root out terrorism, and by standing up to REAL nation states like Russia and putting them in check when it's required.

Hollywoods, I am absolutely fascinated at how you are trying to put this all together. Like you have not only sipped all the kool-aid, but made 2 more pitchers and consumed those as well.

I really think you should put the kool-aid down. You are completely and utterly missing the point.

Where are you drawing your conclusions from? Are you purposely pretending to not understand what is taking place, or have you truly been deceived? If so, by whom? Now I tried to educate you about Germany from 1933-39. That didn't work. Now I will once again post a video of real world events. This is considered to be a slightly more blunt approach in which to draw a picture in your mind.. Watch the news clip and elaborate on the essence of what you have just watched. I am trying to see if you are able to grasp the essence of the video. Now keep in mind, the situation you are watching, is taking place in America in 2008.
