You might not believe it, but back in the day when I sang I could cover pretty much any Allmans song (all of Skynyrd too, the entire catalog, you'd be impressed, I could cover everything note for note, brought many a honky tonk bar down with my boys that could pick it lick for lick, Marshall Tucker too ) except for that one, I left it alone. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole because any key change if you couldn't hit the notes Gregg did in the chorus it just ruined it.

We also used to do Tom Petty, Break Down, I could hit it note for note back in the day and it was great, especially with my buddy doing that bass line, but I just couldn't hit that whipping post note. However, that bass line in whipping post is epic, my God that is an amazing riff.

Don't get me wrong, I thought it was great what CJ did, but that is one of those songs you don't touch if you can't hit it all. You leave it alone, it is what it is and if you can't get up there, you stay away from it. If you can't hit that "tieeeeeeeeddddd" you've lost it. And it has to have that course, raspy sound to it, even up that high. That is just something that very few people can hit and pull it off. Its not just the note that makes it, its the crackle, the hoarse, strained, almost painful sound of his voice. Its something that can't be replicated because it comes from the soul, from way down deep within, from a place of pain and hardship. Its something that can't be sang, it has to be felt and belted out from hurt and pain.

That is what makes good music. Just like Otis Redding. Not sure if you are a fan of his, but you should be if you like soul and songs from the heart. Its probably the best there is. I'd give almost give a ******** to have had him around for another 20 years, that was good sheet. Talk about moving and soul touching. And I don't mean the popular stuff you hear like Dock of the Bay, I mean the deeper stuff. It was mind blowing.

The lowercase names really bug me.

I haven't figured out what is going on here. Are the judges picking 10 boys and ten girls without even hearing them perform again, as the ones to move on and the rest of them are out?

There's 15 girls and 15 boys. They're picking 10 girls and 10 boys to perform and then the public will vote on those that are chosen to perform and the top 13 move on to next week. So 18 (out of 31) are going home.

Well that's seems ****ed up, why bother with all of the drama of narrowing it down to 15 each last week. Should have just picked 10 there and called it a day.

Not to mention, I'm not that impressed with the ones they've picked so far tonight.

Ya, I agree 100%. Feel bad for those who had to spend all that time getting ready to perform and then they don't even get a chance to.

Yeah, that's crazy. If they're going to bother to pick 15 each, then all of those should have been able to perform on the live show and then the judges could have narrowed it down from there. Or better yet, just let them all be voted on and the top 10 vote getters move on, judges pick their 3, and everyone else is out. At least they had a shot for people to vote for who they liked.

Reading the comments on AI's FB page... doesn't look like anyone was too happy with how things were set up last night.

I never really liked Harry until he became a judge, now I find myself liking him more and more. He has without a doubt given the most honest feed back, helpful criticism, and best advice to contestants this season.

Jessica, Emily and Caleb were my favorite performances tonight.

I heard something in Jessica's voice tonight I hadn't noticed before that I really liked. And Caleb is a natural born rock star, I don't think he has anything to worry about as far as winning or losing on Idol, hes got a music career ahead of him already even with the small amount of exposure hes gotten from Idol already.

Gena had a slow start I thought. I like the new way of voting.

I'm missing it, Fox is out here, and this **** seems to happen a couple of times every season on AI.

Just a stupid message saying not to call us, we know this station is unavailable, we will have it back ASAP.

Which usually means about 5 minutes before the show ends.

That sucks. Ours goes out sometimes, but it's usually cause there's snow on the dish.

Dish isn't out, just Fox, no other channels. 27,359 ****ing channels and the only one I want to watch right now is the one that is off.

Caleb singing Working Man just didn't quite do it for me. I love Rush but it just seemed a little too slow in spots for me. Just my $.02
